  • I have two of these and I don't think it's too loud.

  • ''Let me grab my game'''

Computer is taking of in 3 -2 -1.

''So we just put this dvd in the drive''.

''Drive ,drive ,where is my computer?''

  • And we are off the ground :)

  • I turned mine up just to see and it scared me how loud it was. I used to have a 285GTX and always put it on 100% because it was hot, not even half as loud as this. I'm not complaining, though, it's hard to stress this card with just gaming.

  • Intercom : * Stand by for warp hole *

  • this card needs the coolit omni! for shure

  • THUNDERBIRDS ARE GOOOO!

  • I swear I probably wouldn't even be able to hear someone being raped behind me If that was in my computer case.

  • why do you vacuum your room while recording a video?? :/

  • I'll stick with my Nvidia cards..

Can't wait till fermi comes out.

  • wow can this fit on any normal PC ?!

  • @CobraGMW2 depending on the case , you'd probally need to find a full tower case

  • @cjgan80 im using Cooler Master Storm Scout

  • @CobraGMW2 If the case support atleast 13inches of the card , sure not a problem

  • 5970 ready for take-off, please fasten your seatbelt. thank you.

  • If you like the sound of jetplanes and airplanes. Yu'll love this card.

  • @nativus222 well its inside a case and when its in there its really muffled. but take into account its 1 ft away in an open quiet invironment. when you playing crysis shooting guns or whatever with the volume up you cant hear it. plus its on 100%

  • Good god! An I'll be purchasing the 5870. I hope to never reach 100% lol

  • its like a freakin turbine revvin up lol

  • /fan speed

  • wait, he sets it to a 100% and the noise increases gradually ?

  • check the lower right corner, it doesn't go to 100% speed instantly....

  • the cards fan needs to speed up

  • Sounds like a jetengine on full speed.

  • should like my gtx 260 at 100%

  • @insanegaz sound ffs i need sleep :(

  • holly crap! loud

  • not loud enough.

  • 5970 clear for take off PSSSSHHHHH

  • aw my ears o.O

  • @projundertax lolz

  • please fasten your seatbelt. thank you.

  • LMAO

  • It can filter the dust in my room lol

  • Wow ....i can use this videocard as a hair-drier!

  • @DrSAM69 lol

  • Pretty damn loud.

  • I can clean my room with that thing XD

  • wow Martha Stewart!

  • WOW jet engine

  • LOL airport

  • Ghhhhhhh

  • Is it in a closed case?

  • no but you would still hear that LOL

  • i need some help i have just bought and started use of the 5970 how do i install the speed fan control or where can i find it in the driver?

  • Go to ATI Overdrive. Click the lock button to enable overdrive. From there you can change the fan speed.

  • Is my Vacuum on?

  • a vacuum pretend to be gpu :(

  • wow that was so much noisy lol

  • What you need to do is play Flight of the Valkyries faintly in the background. XD

  • DAAAMN dude thats extreme

  • This is 5970 requesting permission to go full power!!

  • 5970 you are clear for take off.

  • clear the runway

  • Its bound to be loud, it has 2 gpu's to contend with.

  • Boing 545 air france go

  • WTF!!!!

  • Is that a video card or a wind tunnel fan holy crap that's loud

  • thats a tornado

  • run its taking off, may day may day.

  • how can you hear whats going on in the game lol , nice vid good job

  • lol so it sounds like the card is about to take off into space!

  • i would cut a part of the plastic top and put a case fan on it before i would ever run that fan on 100%

  • Im going to wait for nvidia's next gen cards before buying anything. Or maybe wait for a second gen of the dx11 cards becasue crysis 2 will proberly end up chocking the first gen like last time.

  • at ~54% so loud is my pc,when its running about 4 hours

  • OMG it was just pure white noise by the end. That's one LOUD fan.

  • too loud

  • How hot it is?

  • this is by far the best question i have seen it was really funny

  • holy )@#* good thing im going liquid cooling :)

  • lol, once it hit ~70% I was like, who stole an fa-18 fighter jet? Not the quietest card but I have found it ati cards only really go to 40-50% fan speed.

  • my HIS 4850 stays at 30d C and never got over 54 C ( It doesn't have the IceQ cooler just the custom HIS fan and grill ) , just can't belive it cause my old Video C stayed at 49 idle and 71 load . Could it be wrong about my temps, the sensor broken or something ??

  • thi vid is cool :D

    temp are so low 43

mine 4870 XXX porno edition allways hot 70-80C+

  • Comment removed

  • Scary, Imagen poking the fan!

  • SAW VII :)

  • *chhh* *5970 is clear for takeoff over * *chhh*

  • hahaha lol

  • wood screws

  • o god hit the deck that's loud, i need a program to do manual fan control, for nvida what would you use? I read you use ntune but im not seeing where you can do that.

  • Use RIVA TUNNER

  • o thanks for that ill look it up

  • my gtx 280 ocx is way louder...mine sounds like an F-18 at take off

  • The Sycthe Ultra Kaze case fan is even worse... look it up now THAT thing is a 747 getting ready for flight.

  • @iTehTunePawd Amen lol, I put a nice controller on mine and on 1000rpm is still moves a ton of air :D

My gtx 285 on full blast puts this card as well as the sythe kaze to shame.

  • HD 5970 Leafblower.

  • lol chh charlie india victor won too too clear for take off...over

  • loud= faster RPM better airflow

  • Get two XFX Black Edition versions and get them both at 100%!

  • this shit is loud as a fucking jet

I was thought he is in airport

  • put some wheels, wings and that i swear that thing will bloww enough air to take off.

  • chhh. Clear for take off.Over

  • its a 747

  • Starting to sound like an airplane trying to take off. LOL.

  • lol exactly what i thought

  • That's one foot away?

    Dang that's loud!

  • LOL overclock that sucker!

  • hey does anyone know if i make the 5970 into a watercooled card would it break off my mobo?

  • All depends of you case, but I still suggest that you find a external support for this card.

The card is LONG and seem heavy!

  • yeah i got a mountainmods case ans with this card is really loud!

  • now we just need a flux capacitor!!!

  • This card didnt impress. It's got a fat ass, its loud as hell and it's expensive.

  • super loud ! you need to turn your vol to max when gaming to overcome the noises

  • I know this is moving a lot of air but it's a little too loud....

  • I am impressed, sounds like its moving lots of air.

  • sounds like a cheap fan to me

  • The sound is produced because friction between air and the fand itself. Maybe they should use a softer-surface of the fan?

  • Wtf did a harrier just take off?

  • LOL! Really, when a fan sounds louder than music... WITH HEADPHONES, it is NOT good.

  • too noisy! - water-cooling brackets out for this one yet?

  • to infinity! and beyond! *blasts off*

  • refresh rate < 50hz?? :)

  • Wow sounds like an F-18 on warm up.

  • As soon as this card turns on your house will take off :D

  • Sounds like a jet is about to take off

  • It'd be better if You provided a Db-meter readings.

  • erm...grow up and provide some db ratings.

  • lol i look down at the comments and there's nothing but spam from people who claim to know what a manufacturer is... the video is about how loud the HIS 5970... don't you people read?... I must say, we need mufflers for this monster, can someone come up with such thing?

  • omg rice crispieesss mmmm

  • I'm kind of getting tired of these little videos. Like, "How long is X product?" "How loud is X product"

"What are the benchmark results for X product?" "When will X product be reviewed?"

I can barely understand an unboxing video, but why not just include all this remaining information in the video review itself, and make it less work on yourself by not bothering with all these little short videos?

  • May be he doesn't have the time? Busy man i bet.

  • @0krazykyle0 it is shorter to just leave them in his main video..... But I guess he probably gets add share or something on most of his videos.

  • this was included in his 5970 review, he's just trying to help people out with their questions, if you aren't interested don't watch, simple as that

  • Because people want everything all at once, before he has compiled it, most people aren't "willing" to wait for a conclusion.

  • woah better have sound proof foam and a steel case lol!!

  • interesting, the fan doesn't rev right away to 100% anymore, it goes up gradually

  • That actually does sound like a jet!

  • FOR CRYING OUT LOAD RODNEY, plz don't push it ;).

This question has already been answered in one of your vids, why not just direct them to it...

I'm sorry if this came over rude, but questions that can more then easily goolded don't have to fill up our subscription tabs.

  • My Hd4870 at 100% sounds like a jet plane

  • Try getting a Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo, i have a Gigabyte HD 4870 and it sounded like hell together with it getting easily warm.

I ordered this gpu cooler and installed it 2 days ago, IT KICKS ASS!

  • I also thought about that, however my card has some heatpipes, and i need to remove those first if i want to open the card :(

  • im looking for a full tower case that would be able to fit a 3x120 radiator on top of it, preferably a 480x120. holes in the case that allow a push through the rad would be much better ofc.

    any ideas?

  • CORSAIR OBSIDIAN

  • thanks for the reply man.

  • wow what is that 7000 rpms?

  • Ready for takeoff.

    FIRE! -overclocks-

  • Comment removed

  • Get those bad boys under water quick.

  • Imagine having 2 of these at 100% speed...that'd be frightening. XD

  • AND WE HAVE LIFTOFF!!

  • Sounds like a jet engine.

  • Rolls-Royce Olympus comes to mind.

  • Why does this fan have such slow acceleration? My 5870 goes from 0% - 100% in a few seconds after applying the speed setting to 100%.

  • maybe to preserve the engine :p.

  • I don't get that either.

  • I think it depends on the brand. A friend of mine has an HIS 5870 and it too starts up slow. Mine is a VisionTek.

  • OMG I thought I had blown my new headset when I heard that.

  • how loud is a blower style GPU fan? LOUD, VERY LOUD

  • It is necessary to have such a loud fan, generally loud fans ARE louder because they are moving more air, the slower + smaller the fan; the less air you can move.

Considering how much heat this card gives off, the fan is actually livable.

If you don't like it, get liquid cooling.

  • no it isn't necessarily that way. the noise also can be caused by bad aerodynamic design or older bearing types. like ceramic bearings are louder than magnetic bearings etc.

  • Yes, but those things can only do so much, they made the best design for the money it costs to manufacture the card.

Better cooling method usually means more money. expecting ceramic bearings in a product that already costs a ton to make is just nit picking.

Should they TRY to make the card the best for the money=YES , is it possible every single time=NO

If you want a more quiet solution, simply go to a different company.

  • just tried to get facts straight. i wouldn't go for HIS or ATI in total anyway.

  • Being biased on video card manufacturers is a dumb move.

Its like saying you don't like Japanese cars because there made in japan.

  • so? just let me. that is my personal decision.

  • Yes, I am just pointing out that your decision is bases on a flawed theory.

  • which flawed theory are you talking about?

  • "I don't like a product because its made by X manufacturer". that is your theory correct?

Give the product a try before you judge it.

  • i didn't say it is bad. i just stated i prefer nvidia. no doubt ATI makes solid cards. i just rather go with the other side due to experience.

  • Yes, but you "prefer" if you didn't you would pick the best CARD (not the manufacturer)

  • yes i pick the best card of the manufacturer of my liking. nvidia gave me some good experience and so i have no desire to change the manufacturer. if nvidia gave me some bad experience i would sure change, but as long that is not the case...well.

  • nvidia isnt a manufacturer . it's like you say : your dad gave birth to you . no , nvidia made these cards and gave it to EVAGA , FXF and such manufacturers to manufacture them . correct me if im wrong but that's how things are for awhile now .

  • oh yeah my bad. but anyway. but the die etc. come pre-made to the manufacturers.

  • isn't it EVGA and XFX? xD

  • Actually that doesn't mean Nvidia is good, it just means you got "lucky" & didn't receive anything defective or not to your liking.

You have failed to tell me why ATI is a bad company in your opinion.

  • is haven't said that ATI is a bad company at any time.

  • Ergo, I am done with you.

  • cool

  • how load was it in desicels it would give every1 a better idea on how loud

  • it's decibels you idiot

  • That was quite loud... possibly the loudest fan I've heard on a GPU.

How close was the microphone to the GPU and was the case side panel on?

  • great fan for a latop

  • What is with the delay between setting the fan speed on CCC and the actual card getting up to speed. When i set my fan speed, it gets there almost instantly with my 5870.

  • The cooling fan of a Graphic Card can be damaged when you set the fan speed in 100% ? what is better, Automatic or manual ? thanks.
