Hi , the ear plug is a good idea, but to much alcohol in the pipe is not good. The salt cleaning method is ok, but use only maybe a teaspoon into the salt filling.Fill the Bowl half, then a few drops, and when the Bowl is filled compledley ad the rest. I use vodka, because he has not so much aroma then whiskey. I like your videos, but talk a little bit slower for the stupid europeans. Greetings Ed

Well if its a used earplug I suppose the wax on it could be good for fixing a loose stem?

Great tip I think I have some of those around here somewhere. Hahaha you said, "stick it in the hole and it will expand, it really swells up when the tip gets wet"...that's what she said. hehe sorry man but you left yourself open for that one.

Hi Jay, the University-Flake is one of my favorites. I can say, every baccy with some kentucky in it, is one for me! For a really good bowl- ore pipe-restore, i recommend you a vid from our "YT-pipe-god" here: ralliegruftie.

his vid "pfeifenkopf reinigen, part 2" is a legend. look and try to understand it. he speaks a clear and slow german, so i guess, it will be easy for you. He has sooo many good advices, so after him, i never use the "Salt-&-Alkohol-Method" again. ;-)

@pipeheadOR haha you're nuts man. That custom you're fixing up is a nice looking pipe. Do you wax the stems? I did it on my first restore and I thought it made the stem taste funny.

@herecomescharlie well if you soak the pipe in whiskey I would recommend chewing the ear plugs to get any liquid out of them. hehehehe

I have some waxy ear plugs I might give a try. They might hold back liquid even better. But I had whiskey in the pipes all afternoon and no a drop leaked out.

@dighsx LOL! I'm sorry. Didn't mean to interfere. It's just that I have a touch of insomnia (happens from time to time when you are "inactive" like I am most of the winter) and I rather spend the time on the net then tossing and turning in bed, waking my wife up... she has to be up in the morning. I dont. :)

If I remember correctly, alcohol disolves wax. Try it, but don't get your hopes up.
