I think what happens is when men get into powerful positions, they tend to take their buddies along for the ride. We saw this in both the Bush and Clinton administrations as well. They need to widen the inner circle for fresher ideas.
That's not as easy as it may seem. If you just bring in new people, you don't know if they are going to be the type you get along with. In a position like Rahm Emanuel's, Obama needs to keep in fairly constant contact with him, so he can't just pick some person he doesn't know well that he may end up having issues with. With Rahm at least he knew he got along with him.

That's not as easy as it may seem. If you just bring in new people, you don't know if they are going to be the type you get along with. In a position like Rahm Emanuel's, Obama needs to keep in fairly constant contact with him, so he can't just pick some person he doesn't know well that he may end up having issues with. With Rahm at least he knew he got along with him.

@codediporpal No, Cenk is saying that Rahm Emanuel sacrificed policy -- that is, sold out to special interests instead of fighting for real reform that the American people wanted -- so that theoretically the Democrats could have political and legislative success. But... Where are the legislative victories? His strategies have led to bad policy AND bad politics.
There are plenty of potential replacements. I like Rahm's nemesis within the Democratic party, Howard Dean, for one.

Progressive agenda would have been to help the unions with card check, what happened to that? have AT LEAST Public Option, or at the very very least negotiate down pharma w/ medicare buying power and repeal the awful Medicare D,but NO. They struck a deal. Then they neutered the FOIA a classic piece of Liberal legislation. They're sending more troops to Afghanistan. Only putting a mandate to announce plans, no cuts in g.h.gases...and they're giving money to the banks, and taxes on healthinsurance
