This Show was great, I am from Newcastle upon Tyne where Byker Grove was filmed. Although, was not set in the district of Byker, it was realy filmed in the district on Benwell.

I still remember the theme tune in my head. One of my favourite CBBC programmes that launched the careers of the likes of Ant & Dec and Donna Air.

What series was it when Toby Anstis kept reminding us to look out for the logo that bounced back up and hit the flashing O in Grove? Clearly that was when the show grew the beard :p

It's not the first season titles, when Byker Grove started in 1989, it had the Kane Gang's theme tune, before it was redone by Ozric Tentacles. It was very much a drama serial then, written by one author. The Ozric Tentacles theme and the jumping titles came with the third or fourth season.

i believe that the Byker Grove theme music was done by hippie group Ozric Tentacles. I remember their name in the end title!! - saw them in concert once and they didn't play this!!

Yeah gill died, he crashed into the lorry at the end of the first series then the first episode of the second opened with winston stood over a grave which spelt out gill in sea shells!
