right on guys & dolls... of all the bands who openly share their love for JAMC & The VU, i think sune and sharin do them the most justice while keeping their own originality intact.
Hmm, I was thinking more along the lines of Suicide with this track. "Cheree" anyone? Listen to when the keyboards come in. There is the Mary Chain and Velvets influence (Oh, look, a duet with Lou and Nico), yes, but pretty much any skinny band in black with fuzzed out guitars is going to get that. I could care less. Neither the Velvets nor the Mary Chain currently exist in any form, so the Raveonettes will more than do.
the raveonettes are the best right now! This drummer reminds me of JAMC -just like honey, he was also standing and used a simple beat, repepetive-love it!!
You've been blinded by the myth. The JAMC have stopped being exciting a long time ago, to a point where they're now featured on the soundtrack of such lame movies like "Lost in Translation"! They're as dead as a Christmas tree =D
Whereas The Raveonettes mimic them to the letter, wear their t-shirts on stage, and sell their soul to a .. wait for it, zombie computer game! hahah, laughable! (Stubbs the Zombie .. seriously now!)
Stubbs the Zombie? Sorry, never heard of that, it must be only for the smart American consumer... Btw, thanks for watching my videos, I hope you liked them (don't forget to subscribe!). How old are you? 5? :D :D
It's on their wiki page - I'm sure they're proud of that. The sellout whores that they are. Oh, I'm not American, for your information. As a dumb & tedious Belgian, I'll let you figure out the rest.
Figure out what? What makes you think I'd want to know anything about someone who watches Raveonettes videos on YouTube, knows what t-shirts they wear, what product they sponsor or what cereal they have for breakfast? Get a life, visit Belgium, I'll buy you a waffle (not).
i really object to people saying any band is "copying" the JAMC. having a 2-drum set is originally from the velvet underground and the hazy, dreamy vocals is a common shoegaze ingredient. having a repetitive beat isn't uncommon either.
people need to responding to them as if they're a JAMC rip-off band. william reid doesn't mind that people have taken "psychocandy" and ran with it. get over it.
ummm, i was just saying that they''ve done something in the similar vein from "psychocandy", not that they're plagiarists. screaming "PLAGIARISM" is a lot like the whole fire-in-a-crowded-movie-theatre scenario.
i'm saying i don't mind that they've done something incredibly similar to the JAMC because i supported them and want more (meaning, i like the raveonettes).

Yeah, you're right - the JAMC rip off is hard to avoid here. There's potential with the Raveonettes, but they're so derivative you can't get past that. And to be so obvious with it too, ughh!
She needs to go solo KILLER VOICE....

They have such a full sound with just two guitars and drummer/DJ...
sonic777111 8 months ago
@sonic777111 Well, the "Jesus & Mary Chain" noise helps a lot. But it has been done before. If you remember, the White Stripes had even less.
But, yes, I love it. Less is more.

i know they like their little two to three piece band thing, but i find it pretty annoying when bands today use prerecorded backup music
joea8 3 years ago 2
Sometimes dealing with a pre-recorded drum track is better than having to deal with an actual drummer... I've had nothing but bad luck with them :)

We're all dwarfs standing on the shoulders of giants. They took a lot from the JAMC and now they sound better ...
