Shchedryk (from the Ukrainian word shchedryi; "bountiful") is a Ukrainian ancient shchedrivka, or New Year's carol. It was arranged by composer and school teacher Mykola Leontovych in 1916, and tells a story of a swallow flying into a household to sing of wealth that will come with the following spring. Shchedryk was originally sung on the night of January 13, which is Shchedry Vechir (Bountiful Evening) to Ukrainians.
This might be the one song that I have no problem hearing over and over again-- in Ukrainian. The English version is hideous and does it no justice whatsoever in content or enunciation.
моя улюблена щедрівка.. просто неймовірно.. у виконанні хору для мене це як.. не знаю.. просто так добре стає.. так по-рідному.. так по-українськи.. так добре)
"Carol of the Bells" (also known as the "Ukrainian Bell Carol") is a Christmas song originally composed by Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych based on a Ukrainian New Years chant known as "Shchedryk" and adapted into English by Peter Wilhousky. The song is based on a traditional folk chant whose language was thought to have magical properties and to be of prehistoric origins and was associated with the coming New Year in Ukraine before the introduction of Christianity
Very nice. I would even say fantastic, superb, excelent. I think I can listen to this music endlessly.
2 nastiaua.
If evry 10th DVD player, car, space shuttle, ship of notebook was "made in Ukraine", everyone in the world would know about this (and not only this) song. Good luck there)

отсутствуют как класс. а в соседней Украине их ну очень много. отсюда закономерный вопрос - о чем это может свидетельствовать.
