  • I wish I could play the guitar like that. Fuck.

  • What a great revival Praetorius is enjoying! As an avid Praetorius fan I am delighted. You play very well Looking forward to hear some more of your interpretations. I'd give you more than 5 stars if it were possible! ;-)

  • Very nicely played. Thank you.

  • Wonderful ... I'm sure Mr. Praetorious would be happy that his work is played & enjoyed by many some 375 years after his passing.

  • Thanks, marcostar.

I'm honoured that my video has been added alongside your other Praetorius music on your favourites.

    Regards.

    Alan.

  • pheee i like this, praetorius rockz

  • Wonderful!!! It's refreshing and beautiful... it does goes straight to the heart. Thank you.

  • Very many thanks, xyparaEl.

    Alan.

  • I do believe that Mr. Praetorius would not have objected to using steel strings (if only they are not too tough on your fingers:)) In his days guts were used for making strings, right ? Hardly an option in our days. Besides, perhaps steel strings sound even more "lutelike" than the "normal" ones.

  • I agree, patukott...steel strings do have a lute-like quality about them, and I'd like to think that the great composers of the past would have marvelled at modern music too!

    Regards.

    Alan.

  • What a lovely piece of music. Michael Prätorius is my favorit composer. I never thougt, that a guitar can sound so nice. Your playing goes to heart.

  • Very many thanks, Ymelops.

    Alan.

  • Sure guitar can sound nice - and in many different ways, too:)

  • is this "La Bourée"? or some other ballet of him?

    Beatiful by the way ;)

  • Hi, Amorp. The Terpsichore Suite is made up of many dance movements; the Bouree being one. However, this I'm afraid is the humble Ballet...nice 'n' easy to play! :-)

    Regards.

    Alan.

  • Outstanding! Thanks for playing this beautiful piece and then posting it!

  • Thanks, riesen2b.

    Much appreciated.

    Alan.

  • Alan, do you have a stereo version of this? It would be great to hear this as an MP3 for example - I guess youtube only encodes in mono.. - All the best - Sam.

  • Sorry, Sam, but this is the only version...anywhere. One day, when I find time, I'd like to record on better equipment. Thankfully, youtube has given me then chance to finally record! :-)

    Regards.

    Alan.

  • Absolutely beautiful :) I thought the best version i'd ever heard was Christopher Ball, but this is just terrific. Any more from Terpsichore?

  • Thanks, cognosc. One day I might learn 'La Volta', but isn't it a wonderful suite of music. Love to hear it played by a lively renaissance ensemble with authentic instruments.

    Kind regards,

    Nasdrovia :-)

    Alan.

  • Why not a lute version ?

    Val ;-)
