What a great revival Praetorius is enjoying! As an avid Praetorius fan I am delighted. You play very well Looking forward to hear some more of your interpretations. I'd give you more than 5 stars if it were possible! ;-)
I do believe that Mr. Praetorius would not have objected to using steel strings (if only they are not too tough on your fingers:)) In his days guts were used for making strings, right ? Hardly an option in our days. Besides, perhaps steel strings sound even more "lutelike" than the "normal" ones.
I agree, patukott...steel strings do have a lute-like quality about them, and I'd like to think that the great composers of the past would have marvelled at modern music too!
Hi, Amorp. The Terpsichore Suite is made up of many dance movements; the Bouree being one. However, this I'm afraid is the humble Ballet...nice 'n' easy to play! :-)
Alan, do you have a stereo version of this? It would be great to hear this as an MP3 for example - I guess youtube only encodes in mono.. - All the best - Sam.
Sorry, Sam, but this is the only version...anywhere. One day, when I find time, I'd like to record on better equipment. Thankfully, youtube has given me then chance to finally record! :-)
Thanks, cognosc. One day I might learn 'La Volta', but isn't it a wonderful suite of music. Love to hear it played by a lively renaissance ensemble with authentic instruments.
I wish I could play the guitar like that. Fuck.

Wonderful ... I'm sure Mr. Praetorious would be happy that his work is played & enjoyed by many some 375 years after his passing.

Absolutely beautiful :) I thought the best version i'd ever heard was Christopher Ball, but this is just terrific. Any more from Terpsichore?
