  • actually they were carrying aids

  • don't lie! you know it was you hijacking the ship because you were hungry! and we know you threatened them with taking off your clothes!!

  • YEAH!!! Fuck the Somali Pirates 5/5

  • not too simplify it too much buddy but basically there pirates, i never knew they were meant too be noble, especially the pirates of a country run by the guy with the biggest gang and weapons basically, so cut throat is not surprising theyre jacking everything, and yasaka i get what your saying about payback, but i dont think they couild possibly believe it was noble. but just too my sensibilities its hardly noble.

  • whats it all about? there pirates!! they dont give a shit about the what the swag is,or who its for. Plunder and gain, its a pirates life for me, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!!! waahaaarrrrraarrr me heartys

  • ........

  • Don't go inland . . . keep the problem in the water, get the right people . . . with just a little technology

  • I agree, there's nothing noble about the Somali pirates. They're in it purely for personal profit. And alot of the money ends up with Somalis living outside Somalia, including the UK and Canada. So "poor people" are not benefitting.

  • Sadly, I see some misinformed individuals championing the pirates as great 3rd world Robin Hoods. I WISH this were true, but it's just not the case. Thank you for the response vid!

  • well, the pirates think that they are noble because most of the ships that they're highjacking are spilling their waste and stealing their fish ressources without paying taxes.

In other words, they're taking advantage of the lack of a government in Somalia.

  • Please watch this response vid on the pirates. This explains me more thoroughly.

  • lol I didn't know 'bout that... well, who knows, maybe they were just impatient? Or there was an american captain on board and they didn't trust him and wanted to carry the goods on their own? But seriously, I've read that some of them are now vowing to concentrate their attacks on american sailors, go deeper in the high waters and that they will start just killing them for vengeance after they shot one of them lately. I'm just spreading a word, you know, it's a sensitive thing.

  • Good ideas. Trust me, I WISH these pirates were champions of justice, but they're just greedy wannabe capitalists like the ships they seize!

  • You better stay away from the shores of Japan, they might harpoon you and use your blubber as oil.

  • HUMOR FAIL!

  • hey bundangbear you have good sources of information hot do these pirates get on the ships that are over 90ft tall? i checked everywhere but cant find anything on the net.

  • Nearly all sea going ships have ladders. Furthermore, many pirates use makeshift bamboo and recycled wooden ladders. That's how the pirates got on the ship in the movie, "The Life Aquatic."

  • I dont see why they just dont try and push the ladders away from the ship with sumthing that would keep them away from the gunfire and they should get rid of the ladders on the side or have them retract so they cant reach them they just need to come up wiyh sumthin to keep them off non leathel if possible but in the in the sailors have the right like everyone else to protect there lives

  • They have guns pointed at their faces. maybe they know their companies will pay for their ransom. Something does seem fishy, I know what you mean.

  • Boy Bundang Bear, you're a real thinker,

rather than believing media stuff suggesting Islam is evil, you do not blindly attack Islam, because you know that Islam is a religion of peace.

  • @bundangbear They obviously don't know that it was food aid, and they couldn't give a shit if they knew, all they want is money. Somalia is so poor that the average person makes $600 dollars, while the pirates make billions.

  • Japan's policy to Taiwan and Korea was one of assimilation. Koreans served in the Diet, just like Japanese parliamentarians. Koreans also served as generals. Japan did not discriminate like other colonial powers.

During time of war, it is unsurprising that forced labour exists. Japan paid South Korea compensation for that in 1965. Unfortunately, South Korea did not properly compensate the victims.

  • Japan liberated the slaves (chong-nom) in Korea.

Japan raise literacy from 1% to 44%.

    Japan cured smallpox.

Japan raised life expectancy from 35 to 47.

I'm not convinced that imperialism is always bad.

Consider Hongkong, the emerald island. Hongkong's massive economic progress came under British rule.

In any organisation, the competent should lead. When local talent is lacking, you can bring in outsiders, just like the USA used Werhner von Braun to build rockets.

  • Dont be so naive

MaerskBased in Norfolk, Virginia, we have provided the U.S. government with transportation and maritime services for more than 40 years, including every major military operation from the Vietnam War to those now underway in Afghanistan and Iraq.

You really think they were carring food, lead sandwiches maybe.

You would have done the samething, would you let Hatians or Cubans ship guns past your own ports to use in killing you? No. dont be a hypocrite

  • Do you know who the bear is? Watch more of his vids before you go wrongly judging him. The bear is a man of peace and unity and very anti-Imperialistic!

  • You are missing the point. The bear is judging the somalis based on a news headline. As if the news tells the truth about anything.

My point was what is a military weapons transporter doing carrying food aid, its bullshit designed to dupe the average joe into emotionalism like bear's "fuck the pirates!!" It wasnt too long ago we were saying fuck the Iraqis, Japs, koreans, niggers, indians. I guess we will never learn our lesson will we?

  • Do you know any Somalis personally? Have you spoken with any Somalis, because I have. They HATE the pirates. Check out my other vids, especially on Islam. "Pirates" are not an ethnic group, now, are they? I want to have sincere and real dialog with you, but you have to put me in context. I would NEVER say anything against Somalis, nor any group of people, but I am attacking a "PROFESSION" here, NOT an ethnicity. I'm the original dread locked grammar nerd freedom fighter bundangbear, yo!

  • Bear,

I think you are missing my point to, I am not saying these guys are freedom fighters, they are opportunist.

What I am saying is that there wasnt food on the those ships, Maerk is a military weapons transporter.

same as saying there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Saddam was still a jerk, but the point is there werent WMD in Iraq, just like there wasnt food on that ship.

  • I agree that Maersk is another part of the military machine of the American Empire. True. However, I've not changed my position, but wish to focus more more on the fact that the pirates are capitalist wannabes who are no better than maersk, and they're not exactly setting up charities in Mogadishu. It is an interesting, complex issue, yes, but the Somalis I work with all HATE the pirates, and they send remittances back to Somalia, and they say the pirates do nothing for the average Somali.

  • Please watch this response vid on the pirates. This explains me more thoroughly.

  • I think he's basing it on what some of his Somali co workers here in Korea think about it. I think that motivated him. It'd odd as hr doens't usually swear in his new vids even, so maybe his friends Somali friends influenced him.

  • I agree with Bundangbear on this one.

If the pirates are such humanitarians, why were they negotiating for ransom?

  • The pirates are clearly greedy capitalists themselves, no better than the ships they try to seize. I see some trying to defend the pirates as 3rd world Robin Hoods, but this is not the case. I wish it were, but once they get the money, they get their own little gated communities; they don't start charities in Mogadishu.

  • Yeah! Fuck 'em!

That really is dispicable... especially when you consider they are fucking over their own people... not that it would be better if they fucked over people from some other country, but you know what i mean... lol

  • Pirates have no business existing, period. What are you? Robin Hood?

  • The pirates are not poor. They live in gated communities, just like other rich people. Unless you mean the stooges they hire to do their dirty work, who only earn a pittance.

  • Bundangbear, recall that 70% we disagree about?

Well, this is part of the 30% we agree about. I agree with this video completely.

  • screw you

  • LOL. Nice channel!

  • It's the Laws of the Seas. Remember, these sailors can not have guns, or their insurance would not cover them. Isn't that the problem there? They can NOT even have an armed guard, for insurance would not allow it!

  • Well said Mr. Bear! Its like the phrase "history repeats itself". Like in the 90's the Somaili leader Aideed will take red cross and foreign aid away right in front of the everyday people in the middle of the hand out of US troops. Somaili is not the only place in Africa, even on the countries on the eastern side has many street gangs and pirates!

  • Africa is a difficult issue, yes. Do you think a lot of it stems from colonialism, and the past exploitation of every segment of the economy and society, so that when these nations became independent, they were not able to govern themselves?

  • Africa is a tough issue, and approaching it with any racism or condescending post-colonial guilt is the wrong answer.

EDUCATION is the key. That's how Korea and Japan became economic miracles, but at what price? It's all so complex.

  • I think Japan definately had it so much better, than Koreans did. Korea is definately a true economic miracle, that literally had a real huge growth in only few decades ago. Considering they once were just as poor as Africa. I've read articles that experts produced that says Korea's growth in the future is going to be tremendous, like TOP THREE. Anyway I agree with you great post.

  • Korea's growth in the future is going to be tremendous - they must've been talking bout the northern part of the penisula xD. South Korea is one of the strongly affected Asian country by the current crisis, recovering from that would be very hard, and the competition is feeling much better. So these experts were probably just bsing :). Although I agree about the miracle part that happend in the past.

  • Eurynomos69, yes Korea is highly affected by the WORLD WIDE DEPRESSION! However I believe Koreans will come out of this pretty quickly, because the miracle is also based on them Surviving IMF CRISIS do you remember that? Experts still wonder how Korea did it?...

  • I agree with you whole heartedly. I think I see another wave of colonialism through the EU's global warming agenda. NOW NOW, I know to some that is a touchy subject, however I see scientist who've produced arguments against the issue, however my point is that global warming is another tool that the EU can use to stop Africa from developing (at least quickly), because development of a nation has a great deal to do with pollution.

  • Hell yea FUCK THEM!

  • Hey what's up my friend!?

  • there is still pirates? i had no idea

  • Yes, my friend, this piracy issue is a big deal in the Gulf of Aden! The pirates have become millionaires!

  • usually when i hear piracy i think of internet piracy, but yea i looked into i it. cool topic

  • Do Somali Pirates even know what is on a ship before they undertake a hijacking? How ironic this hijacking is, though.

  • In some cases, yes, in some cases, no. Some pirates have m ore sophisticated gear and communication information than others. It seems these particular pirates were NOT very sophisticated.

  • Does anyone know if Obama has come out to offer a word of PUBLIC support to Capt. Richard Phillips and his family yet? It has been three days! Overnight the captain tried to escape by swimming away, but he was recaptured by his captors. I don't get it -- 4 thugs in a lifeboat, surrounded by Navy destroyers, and the hostage is still captive like the thugs are calling the shots.

  • The Laws of the Seas are very complex. For example, ships CAN NOT be armed. Isn't that crazy? IF they were to be armed, their insurance would be astronomical. Makes no sense, I know!

  • Blame the LAWS OF THE sEAS!

  • watch?v=hwSw1PlGHU4

  • LOL Repubbies.

  • See the response vid to Cheaks' vid. The problem is, many of the pirates have become millionaires in their own right and live in gated compounds, hoarding the wealth and even aid from their brethren.

  • You said Bear! For you & me both!

  • Tlozcatamati!

  • Not to nitpick, bear, but the correct spelling for

"thank you" in Nahuatl is tlazocamati. Also, to correct myself, I should have put "it" between "said" & "Bear".

  • Tlazocamati!

  • what are you for real???

  • Yup, this is a political vid. i'm ready to go fight the pirates!

  • #58 - Most Responded (Today) - News & Politics

  • well said bundang bear :)

  • Thanks!

  • These pirates is bad well said vid honey!

  • go 'bear. good vid.

  • Merci beaucoup!

  • Those pirates are not the victims in any way like some people might say. They also hijack Saudi and Yemeni ships, so this isn't a Muslim issue AT ALL! I know some fools will see it otherwise, but they're all brainwashed!

  • If it's not a Muslim issue, can I turn it into one, just to spurn unnecessary controversy and piss religious people off?
