  • what a tender interpretation of this heavenly song, thank you so much for posting this howard, good luck and god bless.

  • Ahh - at last - a chance to say an ENORMOUS THANK YOU for all your absolutely stupendous books of fabulous arrangements and arranging methods. Your books have given me tremendous pleasure over the years - busy on Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas just now - wonder why? :-) In any case, your approach makes the guitar feel like a much bigger place to be, with more room to breathe and more colours and flavours - and with little reason to envy a pianist. Again, many, many thanks Mr Morgen!!

  • @twangbarfly Thank you so much for those lovely insightful comments and also for favoriting one of my videos on your very informativechannel. Wow, What a pleasure to join many of my favorites on your list. Consider me a happy subcdriber and friend. Howard (Stay in touch

  • @howardmorgen Howard, you are most welcome - I hope you find as much pleasure in that list of pieces as I do! I could add a thousand more, but believe me, your place is right there alongside those others we both admire! I told a lie - I'm working on "Sant aClaus is Coming to Town" It was late and I was so happy to discover your channel! Regards, Pat

  • Is that a Bennidetto?

  • @jgl2222 nope, it's an Eastman. Not bad guitars, I own one myself and love the acoustic tone they produce as Howard brilliantly shows hear. Although Eastmans are Chinese made, they are quality hand carved instruments. Eastman used to make classical string instruments until they learned from Bennidetto how to build archtop guitars (so your guess wasn't that far off).

  • Pure magic! Wonderful colors in your harmony. Bravo Maestro!

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Wow...i've just found you on Youtube, Mr Howard...i've been reading your article awhile back on GP Mag....I'm a big Fan of your work. thanks for sharing this nice vid...!!!!

  • Howard;

Thanks for this piece. I will be ordering your new book and congratulations on publishing it...

In all my years looking for guitar instructional information, only you have uncovered the back-cycling techniques and made it available to the masses. Thank you very much for explaining that so well... Alas, you've given me an eternity of technique to work with, taking any song and rearranging it into a jazz piece.

  • Thank you so much for letting me know how much my material has helped you. Please feel free to contact me any time you may have a question about my material. Best wishes for a happy, healthy safe and musical Nre Year! Howard

  • Hi Howard,

Thanks so much for your generous site. Your version of Stardust is the best I have heard. Whose version of the tune did you use as your inspiration ...what is perhaps Nat King Coles?

  • Thank you so much for your generous comment! I grew up with this great Hoagy Carmichal standard ive never heard a bad performance of it. The notation and tab for this arrangement is avail)able in my latest book. Through Chord Melody and Beyond. (Alfred Publishingl

  • I'll bet you've poured hours into this! Time well spent!! That was tremendous.

  • Thank you. Your right! Lots of time and love went into this unforgettable standard Arranging a great song like this allows one to become a small part of the tune and that is so satisfying. Howaqrd.

  • Very nice voicings and lines.

  • Son your amazing....I've been an ol 50's rocker an country picker all my life but I love it all and now I've found you. Wonder if you might share some of your back ground. Like how long have been playing and what kind of studying an education in music you came from. Its always interesting for guys like me to try and under stand where your genius come's from....thanks for your great and humble contribution....JW Dawson

  • Thank you for your very lovely comment.

    Howard

  • Hi, Thanks again for your very generous comment. I simply use pen and paper to write my arrangements and send the material to the publisher to put into print. You can compare my work to a mystery writer who types out his stories on an old Underwood. I guess I 'd rather spend my time with the guitar rather than with a computer. Some of the tunes in my book now on Youtube are "Round Midnight, Alone Together, The More I See You, Paper Moon and My Funny Valentine.(19 arrs. in all) Regards, Howard

  • Howard, this must be the most beautiful solo guitar arrangement I've ever heard. Your harmonic choices are exquisite and you play it magnificently. Bravo!

I'm going to order your book, especially hoping the other arrangements are of this superb character. As someone who arranges songs myself, a few questions if you don't mind. Do you use any modern tools, such a Sibelius and a midi guitar interface for note input, or is it simply paper and pencil to create your arrangements? Thanks.

  • Thank you, sir. You are just great. Only a very nice person can transmit this profound feeling. (A mexican jazz lover... and friend!)

  • Thanks for your comment. Stardust is a great song.

    Howard

  • Great job. Thanks for the posting.

  • WOW! What complimentary comments. Thank you so much. Glad you are enjoying the material. As far as genius goes, it's really more about hard work and sticking to something until it feels right.
