Not bad for a first start up at all, bad combination of big cams and no timing will make it sound like that. As for the motor mounts, well, its pretty obvious you needed new ones!

Basically there are 2 openings that blow over the wheel. @ low rpm only 1 is open to up the velocity of the minimal amount of exhaust gasses available. That helps for quick boost. @ high rpm the 2nd opens and reduces back pressure on the engine and improves top end performance. Hope that answers your question.

dam man that much move in the turbo is bad. Think about it its spining at what 10000 rpm +. and movinig more then an inch up and down. Hmm good for the bearings.
