Excellent excellent excellent. An incredibly talented musician to bring out all the melody, counter-melody and bass notes - I heard parts I knew where there in the original but I'd never really paid attention to. Great guitarist to be able to play it.
@troubleclef Hey sir what a skill in guitar, im a guitar addict too. Sir Could you place make a tutorial of this rendition "There's a place" I want to learn it. Thanks in advance Sir. Im from the Philippines.
Bravo!! Fantastic technique and feel. What a sweet tone from the nylon strings.
I don't know if this song is on your list, but have you tried the Beatles' song "That means a Lot" from the Anthology CD's? I don't know if that's the title but I think that line is the hook. "When she says she loves you, that means a lot". That song has a nice melody and very cool changes. You would do it justice.
thanks. i just did a search for that song on youtube and that is the name of it. i'd never heard it before. sounds like pre-George Martin days. Very different sound. I'm not sure i'd even say it was the Beatles if someone played it for me!
Terrific version. One might think this is a throwaway, a leftover on the first Beatles album, you made it very clear that it isn't :) Awesome arrangement and technique, I am your fan!
Very nice. This has always been kind of a secret fave Beatles song of mine. You really have gotten the vocal harmonies they used into your arrangement. Great stuff.
Seriously, I grew up listening to Beatles songs almost everyday and seeing a lot of people playing Beatles. But only few, play and FEEL the music like you do. To me, that's what makes a great musician. Outstanding.
So I have conflicting emotions. You inspire me to play better, but at the same time, I have such a long way to go. You need to record in a studio and release an album (vinyl please).
I think I know the one you mean - it has guitar instead of the harmonica for the lead sections...
- seriously mate, very impressive note picking ;-) In truth I doubt either Macca or Lennon could finger pick as well as that... But they could sing, write, AND play to a good/consistent standard which makes up for it in abundance...
- however, to be able to take their songs and cover all the vocals, lead, and rhythm with each song on a single guitar to that standard is pretty remarkable ;-)
do you have a cd of your arrangements that i could get off you?? i think your playing is amazing and i am from a scouse family of beatles fans so this is a fantastic find for me
yeah i've thought about it. that's another of their songs with the heavily latin back beat that i stressed in this arrangement. thanks for watching and all the comments.
wow... Ive been watching a couple of these.... YOUR SO GROOVY!!!!!!!!!!! I play guitar, I hope someday to be as good as you!!! IF John Lennon himself were watching this he would be freaking out!!!!!!!!!!! :D
dude, you should release an album or probably a DVD with all your works. man, you're a genius! and you look like steven spielberg, who's also a great guy, haha! :D
i like your arrangement for this song, a bit jazzy. i love it! keep up the great work!
Hey each of your strings is a Beatle, the melody the vocal on harmony, the guitars the bass. Need another 2 strings for the drums. Great and beautiful renditon you did.
Very impressive! This is one of the few Beatle songs that I never particularly liked. (The execs at Capitol Records apparently agreed with me — the label never issued the song until the "Past Masters" CD.) However, by giving the tune an intricate, near-flamenco arrangement, TC brings out its percussive beauty.
Speaking of which, I'm now thinking how the tune might sound with a full-blown flamenco arrangement, complete with hand-clapping and castanets.
I think in the US it was only heard on Vee-Jay's "Introducing the Beatles" album, which is relatively unknown...."Theres A Place" and "From Me to You" are kind of orphaned songs not found on the common US (Capitol Records) versions of classic Beatles albums, I think due to legal stuff with Vee-Jay records.
It's my understanding that Brian Epstein gave several early songs to Vee-Jay after EMI-owned Capitol passed on their right of first refusal. (EMI also owned Parlaphone Records in the UK.) Finally, Epstein convinced Capitol to release "I Want to Hold Your Hand," which exploded on the charts. Afterwards, Capitol was able to wrest control of the early songs from Vee-Jay and reissued most of them on the LP "The Early Beatles." So, Capitol could have released "There's a Place" if it had wanted.
Well if that is true, I think they definitely should have put it on the Early Beatles album...I think it's miles better than "Anna" or "Chains", and it's not a cover song!
Troubleclef..You should record some of you're musings..I think there's a market for it..LOL..I'll put up the cash for the studio time..Interested?..JRingo
Excellent arrangement and playing. Have alway's loved your Beatles repertoire. One note though, when I play this song, on the bridges second line I use F#m instead of F#7(1:10-1:12). It adds some chordal texture and fits the lyrics. First go around "there's no sorrow" F#7, then "there'll be no sad tomorrows" F#m. I like the minor feel when singing "sad tomorrows".
