Speaking of patents, the country with the largest number of patents in force on per capita basis around the world is Hong Kong, not Japan. With a population of 7 million, as opposed to Japan's 130 million, Hong Kong's patent number is only 1 / 6 of Japan. Japanese are not the greatest inventor neither in the world, not in Asia. Hong Kong is.

Taiwan's economy is already incorporated into greater China's sphere. The current largest importer of Taiwanese products is not USA, but China.
