LOL yes in a kind of way US cars have very big engines with low HP. But they have a enormus Torque! and therefore the design of the engine has to be much more massive. So they have bigger Crankhafts to turn this enormus torque without breaking.

BMW had a good engine as long you don't mess around with it, but every piece is not bigger than required. They are designed for the kind of torque they normaly produce.This lowers material req and has the advantage to have a fuel efficient motor for BMW
