ATTENTION I HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO BECOME A DEVELOPER, BUT I DON'T HAVE $4,600 FOR THE NAO ROBOT ITSELF. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO (Donate: $4,600 to me, to become part of the Nao family.) or PAY $4,600 AND JOIN ME AS A 'TEAM DUO' TO HELP START MODIFYING IT TOGETHER, I WOULD BE GLADLY TOO, LETS TALK MORE --CONTACT ME @ (contactsoloboyz@gmail)
@EdasLT, People will probably pay good money for something that can do potentially so many things. The prices will go down enormously with more units sold as well. Just look at the price reductions of Laptops, LCD screens, Mobile phones, Memory cards etc..etc.. over the years. In the first years you had to pay 12.000 Euro for a plasma screen. Now you can buy an LCD for 200 Euro`s.
The Nao costs 18,000$ dollars, and it can't climb stairs on it's own, the OS that comes with it is some piece of work. This thing has been on the marked for more than 3 years, and the price hasn't gone down, yet. Aldebaran is a filthy lying company wich will go bankrupt after honda comes up with a smaller version of its robot !
This is a customized version of the Nao humanoid with a Hokuyo laser range finder integrated in its head. There will be some details in our upcoming publication "Humanoid Robot Localization in Complex Indoor Environments" at IROS 2010.
This concept of robot is already old in compare with many other new things for humanoid robots. I know how to improve them faster... And I also have a strategy to put them faster on the markets... (also for space exploration and other artificial intelligent systems). In many aspects you are losing time in my point of view... because of not having a complete strategy. I know how to lead the technologies; if you are interested let me know....
It's slow because it hasn't got used to it but when he does then he'll be faster
