When you think that most of these protestors were young people--late teens-early twenties, this even becomes even more horrifying. That a government would take such action on any of their own people let alone their young people makes one reconsider why any government in the world would have free trade with them. The chinese government has yet to even acknowledge these atrocites on their own people let alone apologize for them.

I'll grant the gov't of China had a right to assert its power to quell the uprising. What is wrong - - just plain wrong - - is the government's decision to use deadly force against unarmed citizens. The square could have been cleared with a large force of police / army using conventional riot-control methods; tear gas, rubber bullets, batons. The "dissidents" could have been rounded up and had their days in court. Instead, they were slaughtered. . . "A thousand reasons, not a single excuse."
