If anyone knows much about the nissan sentra spec-v's they were only built for quick take off - after third gear they can be destroyed. hence why they are sick when a turbo mod is added for top end.

On that roll at the end that Spec-v should have launched better but then again it all depends on the driver overall. Cool vid :)

i have a 2002 gti 1.8t its for sale ill add and i have a 2003 Nissan sentra spec-v on paper gti is at 180hp the Nissan is at 175..Torque gti 173 Nissan 180..the GTI claims a faster 1/4 time BUT my sentra kills my GTI and every one i have raced by time the turbo spools the nissan is gone..let allso add the GTI is more $ yes it has a lot better stuff inside BUT with only being one year older the GTI is falling apart door locks dont work only with the key trim poping off

I drove both, liked the 1.8 better. Currently have a 20th anniversary GTI, but feel is little underpowered, probably because of all extra weight due to all options and accessories on car. At first I installed a REVO software and cold air intake and solved problem somewhat. Ended up with K04 conversion and went too extreme, but car feels nice, with strong acceleration but have not tested it against any other cars.

@gickymobile1 The VR6 sounds better, and is arguably slightly faster then the 1.8T (although I've raced a 2003 VR6 GTI a while ago and we were even). The 1.8T is better on fuel consumption, easier to modify and is probably cheaper to insure

@Dave9919 vr6 24v all day, the 12v sounds better but the 24v is a better performer with a few kinks worked out. budget modding though, go with the turbo, dave is 100% correct. but idk about the race though... i stomp 1.8ts in my vr, ;)

@billyt4515 I raced a 2003 vr6 once back in the day, he had an exhaust and we were even the whole way. No clear winner. The 2 are pretty evenly matched "out of the box".

haha wow first of all the turbo car allows it to have a smaller motor and get power so 1. better gas mileage when out of the turbo than a bigger NA motor, and second the smaller motor is LIGHTER your big NA engine is heavy but yea heavier and worse mpgs sounds ballin doesnt it?

Even tho the VW has only 5 more hp, it's got that turbo that keeps on spooling, so of corse it gonna win. On the other hand tubo the Sentra and it will be a totally different story.

serious dude. the most ideal setup for a engine is to get the most power out of it N/A without going turbo. people use turbos to get tons of easy power out of it, but there will always be lag. the same exact car with the same exact hp, weight, ect, one N/A and one turbo, the N/A one wil be the better one. no lag, just instant power. trust me, if you can make power on the car reliably N/A, that IS the way to go.

You have no clue son. Not everyone has turbo lag, the Nissan GT-R, NO trubo lag what so ever on it, i know a few ppl wit turbo cars that have no lag. With a good ball bearing turbo you can produce a car with no lag. Also, if your worried about lag, get a supercharger, or some nitrous. I my self perfer nitrous, it's the cheapest, and easy to install, and an instant 50, 75, 100, or whatever your spraying, shot of HP

Yes turbos are easy hp, and they are the best poweradder you can get, if you build a NA car you can only get so much HP out of it, it's not like cams, heads, or what ever you put on is gonna be better than a turbo, and if you build a NA OHC engine it's not gonna be as fast as a pushrod engine, with the same mods, thats why people turbo engines

5hp difference, 180 in mine, 175 in his (plus whatever that intake does). Also, those Sentras are 200 lbs lighter than my car, oh yeah, also, I had a passenger in my car.

Gti has a little under180hp to the crank....150-160whp if you count the powertrain loss. They're slow stock, I know, I own one lol Only way they get faster is with an ecu reflash. Adds about 30hp and 70ftlbs of torque on average depending what stage and company you go with. I've got Revo Stage 2 software and can hang with 6.0 GTO's if that counts for anything...

@Dave9919 actually i read the spec v has 170 tq, close to the 1.8t...however i read something about the spec v only putting like 140 hp to the wheels whereas the 1.8t was close to 165-170 alot clower to its claimed 180....could explain why the gti beats it so easily....really it doesnt matter cause once you chip the 1.8t game over for spec v as the 1.8t is now running 215hp and 240tq(depending on chip) mines apr 93 octane prog.)

@myuzz SpecV makes 185 tq. GTi wins because it has a fatter power band and taller 1st gear. First gear in the Spec V is super short and basically useless.
