@wasif18 Oddly enough, most people I know with big tri's have good form until they do a tricep specific exercise, at that point most of those exercises are pretty atrocious.

@GsxRaider yeah man, any excercise you do you should be able to feel that targeted muscle tensing up after say 8-12 reps, if you dont feel it in that amount of repetitions then up your weight, just a little at a time.
do i do around 3/4 sets of 8/10 reps??? im lifting at home with dumbell and press ups of around 100 a day different positions.. btw i am 5ft6 about 8 stones lifting around 10/12 kg on dumbell.. sumtyms struggle but pull through
@safiii786 8 stones? Thats 14 pounds a stone, correct? So I'm quessing your trying to put on weight. You want to do 80% of your maximum rep which should allow you to do 7-8 reps. And you must do that atleast 3 times. Also, you must, if your skinny and trying to put on weight, muscle, etc, be taking in alot of calories and a lot of protein in, every day. The most important thing for skinny guys(like I use to be) is eating a lot of fat and protein. Im sure you have more questions. Shoot em at me.

People need to do light weights on this, because it puts the elbow in a bad position and doing bad form or using to much weight can do some damage. Its a great workout though
How can you do these if you can't get your elbow pointing toward the ceiling ? My shoulders will not allow my elbows to go that far back,so my elbows are pointing straight ahead pretty much.
@boardgames69 use the special chair with the low posterior support, it's also used for overhead dumbell shoulder press so the top doesnt get in the way, most gyms have it
this bloke has some good vids. when i do this exercise it makes my lower back ache like a bitch. i find it hard to keep my lower back in its correct position.
Try sitting down when you do it I have no problem doing this exercise I use to stand up when doing it then found sitting down made it easier and confortable

@k0urf4th3r no. if you're not getting DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) after training, usually it means you either didn't train properly or you did the same thing and your body has adapted to it. you need to vary your workouts.
this is a very good excercise for those 3 part of triceps , this is 1 of the few excercise all those triceps part work 100% , is not important the weight in this 1 but the execution , i do in my routine alwais 3 sets of 12 reps and 1 minute rest between the set
When i do this exercise i can feel the blood not going thrue proparly because, after doing the exercise and putting your arm down i can feel, the blood rushin thrue the vanes down your arms, am i doing it wrong or wtf?
No offence, but you sound a bit retarded. Be logical- If your arm is up in the air, then of course the blood will rush down, once you return your arms, the blood will then come back down through your arms.
probably, i have also had a bit of pain in my shoulder doin this exercise, but try to use a lighter weight and keep the arms as close to your head as possible ;)
i get it too, it happens if you do not stretch your triceps properly... always stretch properly before working out and warm up ur triceps by doing about 15 close grip push ups use ur knees if u want n then hit the weights good luck
Yes, it's perfectly ok to do this and French Presses in the same workout. It's a different exercise and works the Triceps in a slightly different way.

rule of thumb is put as much weight on so you can do between 10-12 reps, then do 3+ sets of it.
pause for 20-40 seconds between each set
of course you can add other triceps excercises and do 3+ sets of that excercise.
but never work on the same muscle group 2 days in a row.
so it's hard to say how many reps a week, some do 50, some do 500, it all depends
