They once asked Finbar on a radio interview "Finbar, why do you play the pipes so fast?" he paused, then replied...."because I can" ..... There's no answer to that!!!!
OMG I AM FROM PERTH AND I LOOOOVE THE FUREYS AND IVE ALWAYS WISHED THEY WOULD COME TO PERTH!! BUT SEEMS LIKE THEY DID HOW THE FK AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THESE THINGS?
I'd forgotten what a master he is at the Uilleann - the soul of Eire. Thoekins men hin history -the Galiciansand Northumbrians share this instrument. Very fine!! :)
I was at this gig. He was brilliant. There was a video of him playing the coolin on youtube, but sadly it got removed. It was the best rendition I have ever heard.
@midnightwalker2712 yes i agree i have been looking for it myself for a long time..his version of the coolin is simply stunning and a joy to listen to...would love to find it again:)
@midnightwalker2712 Check out The Furey's album Claddagh Road, Track 12 - Mo Chuileann...same song as the old video that used to be on here...which I think I have archived somewhere!
there is not enough of finbar video clips playing the pipes..i love his style and his feel.he uses such wonderful little touches to the furey brothers own songs, like their version of the green fields of france about 2/3 rds through the song the pipes come in just under the main melody to support the tune almost like a bass guitar.just one of the greats love davy spillane too but a way different style
