@RamusTongProductions - I have the HS300, and I have a MacBookPro too...I wanna know how did you get the films from the camera, did you use iMovie, and what configuration did you import? I'm asking, because all my import files has a noise on the image...and I wanna know the best config to import my films. Thank you, your images are great!
@alexamin I use Final Cut Pro, which converts the AVHCD H.264 footage to a ProRes 422 intermediate codec, for editing. You can use MPEG ClipStream (which is free) to import the files and export to ProRes 422 or ProRes 444 (which I hear is the best). But iMovie doesn't support ProRes. Which editor are you using?
@RamusTongProductions - So, I use Final Cut Pro too...and looking to your comments I found how I can import using FCP...when I import from it do I get the highest quality? and what about the noise? Do your camera films with this noise too?
@RamusTongProductions - i've been filming in full HD, and no matter what compression and file type i use, i can't seem to produce amazing quality when i post to youtube. what settings did you shoot in? what were your capture/logging settings in final cut? which codec did you use to export? and finally, what file type did you post? i only ask because your video quality is AMAZING!!! thank you.
@jessinshow Thanks. No special settings for log and transfer. Used Magic Bullet Looks for customised colour grading. Exported to Compressor. If you send me a message on YouTube with your email address I'll reply with the compressor settings file I use for 1080. This one is 720.
@jessinshow BTW - I just realised I didn't even have the camera set to the highest bitrate (i.e. HA = 17Mbps) for that test. I have posted a 1080 encoded version of the original - which was recorded at HG (13Mbps). Check your camera setings.
With the camera plugged in via USB, choose File > Log and Tansfer. Final Cut finds the files no problem. Same should work for external SD card in a reader.
Yeah well, that was the idea - just a small, cheap camera and some Magic Bullet effects. Put it on HD, full screen and move back 10 feet and it looks good enough for me.
Amazing quality from TM300, as always. But your color correction sucks. It takes some time to learn how to use Magic Bullet to get more pro looking videos. Your one looks very cheap, would be better without any correction.
The neat thing about YouTube is that if you load a copyrighted song with the video, the owner can choose to give you rights to use it automatically, if they can advertise. So you will see the ad at about 11 seconds in. Billie Holiday, "They Can't Take That Away From Me"
@RamusTongProductions Do you need any type of special computer for this camera and the final cut. I just have a Acer Laptop with windows vista.
Im thinking about getting this camera for my youtube/parkour videos, im still in the market though, trying to get the best camera possible for under 800.
@ArtisticFlow87 - Final Cut is Mac only. I would recommend Sony Vegas for the PC but I doubt your laptop is up to full HD editing. You need CPU horsepower and lots of RAM. I cannot comment on the IS I don't do much handheld but it works well enough.
Another guy told me he uses his TM300 with Vegas version 9 or something like that.
What would be my next step after I have the camera and the editor? My laptop is just an Acer, with windows vista, its about 2 years old since Ive owned it. I think it has 320GB or something like that, not very computer savvy...
@RamusTongProductions i have an acer laptop also, and it is plenty powerfull, with Adobe After Effects anyway, and it can even render entirely cg scenes efficiently.
I'm looking to buy a HD camcorder and this model is currently at the top of my list.
I'd really appreciate it if you could answer a couple of questions that are troubling me.
I was just wondering how easily it works with FCP? Is it simply a matter of plugging it in and FCP will recognise the camera and import the clips, or is it more complicated than that?
Final Cut Pro (on Intel-based Macs only) will bring the clips in under "Log and Transfer" no problem. The camera is recognised automatically.
Non-Intel Macs do not support the AVHCD codec directly so the clips will need converting to something else with some other software first.
"Time-lapse" refers to the last part of the video where the traffic is speeded up. This was shot over one hour with a few frames captured every 10 secs. The camera does this automatically.
Do you think the "time-laps" is necessary? Waht's about the time-lapse-function in postproduction (even in basic programms like imovie)? or is the advantage in needing less recording time (for example 1 h real time is recorded in 10 minutes time-laps?
Yeah, but I prefer it all done for me in one small clip in-camera, before it is imported into the editor. Much, much quicker and easier. Your English is great.

No, it does not support 24p. This test was captured at 50i (PAL) then deinterlaced in the render i.e. 25fps.

@RamusTongProductions So I need a more powerful laptop just to edit the videos.

acer makes decently powerfull laptops:
such as mine,
Pentium Dual Core 2.0 GHz processor
732 MB Intel GMA 4500M graphics card
1366x768 HD resolution Crystal Screen (8ms res.)
3 gigs RAM

@ArtisticFlow87 just so you know the lowest price for this camera is $1149, so for under 800 i would recommend the Sony Handycam HDR-CX100.
it is full HD, great audio quality, 240fps slow motion. And only $500.
some people dont like it but i seem to so far

@Ronnie51026 i ended up getting the panasonic tm700 instead of the tm300..
