Why would you tell everyone where you build your Apaches? Especially if its the ONLY place you build your Apaches? I'm not a terrorist or anything, but 0:50-1:12 told me EXACTLY where to go if I wanted to see one being built. I mean shit, they even told showed me the outside of the building just in case I'm not sure.
Or maybe they want us to think thats where they build them, but they actually build them somewhere hundreds of miles away? Why else give so many details?
no not quite...its now you layer it...the advantage of kevlar is, its light and strong...exactly how thick it has to be to stop certain ammunition i think is classified information...but yes, the kevlar armour on an Apache can withstand or absorb heavy caliber shots
the attack helicopter is by no means obsolete. They are still widely used by the Army and Marine Corps. Yes, there are new weapons which could replace certain jobs, they will remain a crucial part of the combat zone for a while to come.
The Apache might be one of the most deadliest heicopters in the world but god damn, it's one ugly bird. Don't get me wrong...I would not want to be on the receiving end of that bad boy.
The Cobra came out before the Apache. If my memory is right, this gunship did not come out until the very end of the war. Still cool video, thank you for posting.
It was too expensive. A UAV, which is cheaper, can do the same job of recon as the Comanche with less risk of losing a pilot. It too is also stealthy to radar since it's alot smaller. Go to wikipedia and type in "RAH-66 Comanche" for more info.
Damn you buggers?? never heard about the Eurocopter Tigre? The main cannon can put 8 rounds on 10 shots into a car windscreen at 1000 meters while moving... It NEVER jams, unlike the Apache's... Also check the Tigre's opto-electronics... The gunner does not need months of training to be able to fire with on eye and check the cockpit meters/environment with the others;
yea i heard about the eurocopter, its so stealthy, theres a vid somewhere on tube showing a guy flying it very low through a forest but the pilot died
I was worried for a minute,thought there was a real threat to the Apache,all I saw was a smoothed over version of ours,but,since it is French,we'll never see if it really works or not.

I like how they jumped from the Huey to the Apache. Never mind the totally badass Cobra that the Apache succeeded...

It's ONE of the fastest. Not THE fastest. But it can easily qualify as the DEADLIEST attack helicopter.

Yeah, the Westland Apache has two Rolls Royce Turbomeca RTM322 engines, slightly more torque than the standard US version I believe.

"so 1mm kevlar is stoppin 23mm rounds? ;)"
No. Standard airframe southern hemisphere is capable of withstanding 12.7mm fire. The DRIVETRAIN is capable of tolerating up to 23mm fire.

Notice the Chinese subtitles on the vid. The reason they can show how they're made is because the apache is already OBSOLETE!
