  • Like If you are here bcz of KLINDAs video lk kill

  • Some people just dont know a good song when they hear it :3

  • Wow. I'm so glad that Emilie showed me Otep. And this song is so sad.

  • You can tell the violins have been recorded by Emilie Autumn. :)

  • Ok so the song is about oteps childhood and the story of several women including herself being victims of rape in oteps case her father was a pedophile. I think otep would be an awesome mom I don't know if she wants children but imagen that sweet voice of hers singing a lullaby to her baby. ^_^

  • Am I the only one who doesn't know who Emilie Autumn is?

  • @88blackbat88 You need to look her up.

  • @88blackbat88 She is a violinist who writes and produces her own music. Check her up. You'd be intrigued by her story and her music.

  • The spelling of this song makes me rip my hair out in frustration.

  • does this song have a storyline? or is just general situations that women suffer around the world?

  • so beautiful :) all screamers do have a soft side

  • Like if you're here because of Emilie Autumn! <3

  • I hate how they typed the title, but awesome song. :)

  • @forensicerror That's how the title of the song actually is...? It's "Ur a WMN Now".

  • @forensicerror

i think this way is cuter

  • This is why Otep is my favorite. She has such amazing vocal talents. She can do songs like this AND do songs so heavy that some people think it is a guy doing the screaming.

  • this song is so beautiful... and so sad...

  • I love this song it is so beautiful

  • This song is so beautiful. I have tears in my eyes.

  • Otep sings so beautiful ^^

  • this song is amazing. it invokes so much emotion, this is what real music sounds like. The 4 people who disliked this need serious help. Emilie Autumn + Otep Shamaya.. amazing. They should do more work together.

  • Otep and Emilie.... oh my god. best EVER

  • @NoraWillEatU You copied that from a comment on songmeanings . net, where an explanation and proof is found for the actual meaning of the song too:

"Is it through these barbaric mutilation rituals that still occur in Africa, where they mutilate young girls' bodies so that they will never enjoy intercourse with their husbands?"

I can send you my source, it just won't let me post the site on here :)

  • Amazing! Love it! :)

  • Why is this song so perfect

  • seemingly that song isn't Otep at all, but that song is pure Otep, the meaning is very strong, it's about how young girls change and becoming real women (obviously)

  • amazing!!!

  • still my very favorite OTEP song!! the emotion in Otep's voice. touches my soul

  • The first verse of this song gives me shivers.

  • @CoconutGirl131 Shivers: that's one of the main reasons why I love Otep so much

  • Holy shit, she can actually sing?

  • @RememberWhisk I know, right?

  • Truely beautiful, Im glad the role of a woman has changed. It makes me sick how woman are portrayed in media.

  • it touchs me in more than one way and it kinda grabs you by your boo boo strings... know what i mean i love this song.... it kills me slowly

  • That song is pure beauty lol, awesome moral, awesome sound, good to hear a change from otep

  • god .. cool wonerful

  • when i get married this is going to be definitely my walking down th aisle song

no doubt about that, love you otep :)

  • beautiful song. Just wow

  • This song is AMAZING! So beautiful and Otep sings it from within and you can feel her pain. so beautiful!! not her general style but it I love it!

  • i dont even know why im listening to this since im a guy, anyways nice song

  • @mariusx15 Bit of a moron, arent you.

  • How the hell is Katy Perry's I kissed a girl related to this masterpiece in anyway shape or form. I feel sick D:

  • This is freaking amazing. Also, ironic that I'm a dude and this is probably my favorite thing she's ever done.

  • I love this song so much.

  • this song is beautiful

  • I love emilie autumn and otep!

  • I feel this song to my soul everytime I listen to it. It is 3 stories in 3 verses. Rape. Female circumcision in Africa and a welfare mom. Beautifully strong

  • @cyngirl sorry but i have to correct you. actually the second story is about arranged marriages for very young girls. but yes i agree with you it is amazing :)

  • @moogocow I'm pretty sure it was stated somewhere that it was about female circumcision in Africa although I can't remember the source anymore >< But like with lyrics like: "A perfect stranger to correct me... Cuz good girls hold real still, surrender your free will/ They *cracked the crown to pluck the pearl* here on the jagged edge of the world" sounds a lot like FGM to me, where girls often have to be pinned down (and "hold real still")

  • @CR1MS0NT3ARS I can see what you mean. It is very possible to be interpreted that way and the way that I interpreted it...that's just another thing that's awesome about Otep's lyrics, they're open to interpretation :)

  • @CR1MS0NT3ARS Ur opinion is rather irrational. Its obviously about an arranged marriage to someone she never really got know. That was very common, and is still happening in other countries."Good girls hold real still/Surrender your free will " means to not flee from the altar. She is writing how marriage takes over, how men used to force their wives to do all the housework, cooking, child raising. They didn't have much time to get out- so, it basically saying "goodbye to ur personal freedom"

  • @NoraWillEatU

but thats just the second verse...and i guess the first is about a girl being led into the dark by a boy who forces himself on her, taking her "virginity". ("She's been ensnared" and "He shoves her to the ground").

...Finally, the third is a young mother in a welfare line, wanting a better future for her daughter. (reffering to her mother and herself, im guessing.)

  • this is really hard to believe that this is Otep.. fucking creepie

  • this song makes me cry... mostly because it made me realize im a woman now, judging on the lyrics. sometimes i just start singing it to myself when im having troubles. it always helps me remember to come back to earth and be reasonable. love otep and emilee autumn <3

  • This song is amazing, I've never heard Otep like this before, and Emilie did a great/awesome job too. :D

  • Emilie Autumn on Violin here !!!

  • im learning this on the piano :D

  • @becca182fbtw where did you get the sheet music! i would love to learn this...

  • @mangakagirl2 ahhh my piano teacher has pefect pitch so i play it for him and he writes it out. he does it so im playing the melody and the harmony not the acctual piano music from the song. the intro islow bflat and f and then that again then low d thenlow f and low a. then low a and g. then low d and low g. then low g and low eflat. then the second f after middle c and d. all of the notes are in the bass celf

  • @becca182fbtw aww. lucky, lol. i'll have to write that down and work on it. thnx :]

  • @mangakagirl2 welcomee you can try looking up the tabs for it. it has two flats, b and e, but theres an accidental at one point and a and d are also flattened

  • @becca182fbtw

will you be so as to e-mail/msg me the chords for this song please?

  • powerful....and the message is quite profound.

    <333

  • This was my first time listening to it and i LOVE it it's awsome :) lol

  • @punkkatie1

same here. I can hardly believe it's Otep, but I can tell because of her voice. The violin and piano was amazing in this song.

  • @lovehatewhateverxx yea, otep alone is amazing...but her with emilie autumn is just phenominal

  • Emilie <3

  • Beautiful song. Absolutely beautiful.

Although, It seems as though Otep isn't being herself at all. In all of her other songs that I've heard, she's an angry, anti-religion lesbian who wants nothing more than revenge against the people who've hurt her. In this one, she seems content with her situation, and definitely looking on the brightside of everything. hmmmm....

  • @GrannyXXX simply stating what happens doesn't mean she's content with it.

  • @GrannyXXX Well technically since it's about female circumcision, rape, and arranged marriages, it's still a bit OTEP-like, you know? Since it's so meaningful and powerful, as is everything she writes. But..yeah, I love this song mainly because it's totally different from her normal songs about hate and revenge and stuff.

  • will not turn single ???

    clip deserves...

  • I've listened to this song frequently... I still get quite teary eyed hearing it. Such a beautiful song, the melody, too. The violin and piano pair makes it better. Her voice is beautiful in this one.

  • This song makes me fucking cry everytime i hear it. Good job Otep (:

  • Otep Shamaya + Emilie Autumn = God Damn Win

  • Im gonna see otep august 16 th:D ahh so excited

  • Otep with Emilie Autumn on the violin? Hell yes. <3

  • this is such a pretty song i lover it

  • I love this song.... <3

  • this song is about different ways girls become wmn....the first verse is date rape, the second one is female circumcision and the last one is a personal experience frm otep.....this song is dedicated to her mother.....

  • I love Otep, so much. Their lyrics are amazing, and this song is beautiful. :)

  • i love this song. We all kno Otep for her awesome screams an rip ur ears open voice, but her voice in this song its so beautiful!

  • It sounds like it should be on a depressing tampon commercial.

"You're a woman now" ... Says it all.

  • @BloodyProlapse hahahhahahahahahaahaha you're awesome! *High5* = D

  • this is so creepy.. and definitely a new direction for otep. i think i like it :D

  • this is amazing song but i love otep

  • I can listen to this song over and over again.. i love it!

Otep i my fucking heart <3

  • This songs amazing. Not to diss Otep, but Emilie Autumn actually pwns this song.

Though otep's voice is great in this.

  • I'm not much of a fan of OTEP but I do oh so LOVE this song.

  • @OmegaTroll69 Obvious troll is obvious...

  • this song is no whining or complaining about anything. the fisrt verse is about date rape, the second verse is about how in some parts of the world little girls arre married of to ald men, and the third verse is about her and her mother.

  • Comment removed

  • @OmegaTroll69

Tell me, what in the hell makes this song retarded? Please do explain because I myself think that this song is very uplifting, especially for a woman who has been through a lot of crap.

  • @mrswalton09

Because it's a whine fest, and it's only uplifting if you're a self important cunt.

  • @OmegaTroll69

Mhm, a whine fest. Actually, this song relates to many women on different levels. I for example am a mother desperately trying to find work while I am raising my child, and every time I hear this song it gives me more inspiration to keep my head up and keep trying hard.

  • @OmegaTroll69

Actually, for your information, the type of music you listen to does not define how good a parent you are. You have no idea the things that I listen to, I actually tend to listen to a lot of soft, mellow music. If you know nothing about me, how about keep your worthless opinions on my ability to be a good parent to yourself. Again I will say this, grow up. Stop dissing others just to kill time. Go find something better to do like I will right now. Ending this, good bye.

  • @mrswalton09

wow you're taking this argument seriously aren't you? you're to stupid to have a kid.

  • @OmegaTroll69 i hope u never have a child because of ur biased views and stupidity.

  • @OmegaTroll69

As for your "self important cunt" comment, for one, grow up. Everyone gets stressed out and goes through some sort of rough patch in life and trying to seek help and support does not make you "self important", and it certainly does not make you a "cunt". If you don't like the song or it's meaning, don't listen to it or comment on it, and definitely do not diss those who are going through a rough time. Just do us all a favor, fuck off and have a nice day, dick.

  • @OmegaTroll69

Oh, and by the way, self important isn't even a real word.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrswalton09

hahahaha do you actually think you're intelligent? that's rich.

  • @OmegaTroll69 u r probably a guy. u probably think women r only good for sex and doing ur dirty work. u r extremely close-minded and have barely any good friends. u r an extremely cruel person to think child marriages (or circumcision), poverty, and rape r small things that isn't cause for pity. words cannot describe my disgust to u.

  • When i first heard this song it was so beutiful!!!! It's one of Otep's better song right behide Smash the Control Machine Eat the Children and Crooked Spoons!!!!!!!!

  • I like work by both Otep Shamaya and Emilie Autumn o.O

But this is a beautiful song, much like "perfectly flawed" ;]

Oh, and Otep's poetry is good, as is Emilie's stories xD

  • this song represents so many things that women go thru. our mothers, our sisters, our girlfriends, our daughters.....beautiful to listen to yet sad to know what happens to so many of us. i cry every time i listen to it.

  • OMG! I love Otep and i also love Emilie <3

    Beautiful song!

  • @OdinCalls14 It took both of them to do it so I wouldn't say it's just because of Emilie Autumn. Don't get me wrong, I love EA but I think Otep should get some credit.

  • @OdinCalls14

a shitty band? perhaps sir, you haven't taken the time to actually check them out. also doubt you've seen them live. the number of people she's helped with her poetry and songs, is more than you could ever hope to meet in 2 of your lifetimes. don't really care what you listen too, but next time you don't like something, keep your fucking mouth shut.

  • lol, actually I did check them out. After hearing this song, I listened to their whole album. You can imagine my disappointment.

  • @OdinCalls14 Although I agree that EA definitely contributes to the beauty of the song, I doubt the rest of Otep's music is really your cup of tea. If you love Emilie Autumn, generally you don't listen to metal involving rap and screaming interlaced. (I say generally because I know I love both EA and Otep) but really, their music isn't all like this, all metal bands have a ballad or two. At least female fronted ones usually do.

  • just because Otep worked with other bands doesnt mean they need to get all the creidt , this is otep's song and otep's band

  • Emilie adds a whole new element to this song, though i also love OTEP just as they are. <3 Great song!

  • "In addition to writing with longtime musical conspirator eViL j, Shamaya also delved into new collaborations on the album, working with Grammy Award-winning songwriter Holly Knight on the hauntingly heavy ballad"

  • Comment removed

  • Check the writers credits... I will be waiting for your apology.

  • Comment removed

  • @xthexcrazyxgirlx Actually, Holly Knight wrote both this song and Perfectly Flawed for Otep. Beautiful singing and music, though. Otep's very talented.

  • @xthexcrazyxgirlx Holly Knight wrote the song jackass. Check your facts before you try sounding smarter than you are

  • @evodkrad another way to tell if this holly knight character wrote perfectly flawed or this song, is by looking in the booklet in the cd. In the back, they *have* to put any copyrighted work to whoever wrote the piece. She will be in there if she did.

  • @Fefefoth

She and Otep worked on both perfectly flawed and ur a wmn now.

  • And you know what I think? Attention whores.

  • this song is about how certain thing u do in life are sign of growing up but its kinda sarcastic. the first verse is how some people think they're mature after they have sex. but what if its a rape? 2nd verse is about little girls getting sold to older men do to religious or cultural belifes as wifes in some parts of the world. the third verse is nice it talks about her own mother when she was young her mother actually told her that in a welfare line. and she kept her promise. otep is awsome

  • this song has many meaning it open to the listeners interpretation do not claim that your interpretation is the correct the reason art is created by an artist is to cause many different feeling and thoughts by the listener or viewer the true meaning is up to the artist

  • Comment removed

  • uh-mazing song

    its way pretty<3

    but um wats it about..?

    ;]

  • it s about growing up. The girl gets raped. She has a child. these are the moments in her life that help her grow up to becoma a women.

  • Can someone please tell me what this song is about? I just dont understand...:S.....

  • its about a girl being raped, and having a kid, so she has to become a women or To grow up so to say

  • aww so sad =[

story of our lives though, as women....

  • beautifyl song, hard to believe its otep but it is!!

  • i know!! this the first song i heard from them . I absolutly loved it and looked them up on itunes. i was shocked when i heard their other songs.... lol

  • @jenna0857 try "Perfectly Flawed" and "We Dream Like Lions". those r their slow ones.

  • wow. doesn't sound liker her usual stuff... it's damn beautiful, especially the voice....

  • Shamaya is soo perfect, and this music makes me cry :')

  • great song indeed, shame though that there is a lot of mistakes in the lyrics showed...

  • consturctive crit is appreicated, but bashing is not

  • exactly!!!

  • ikr.

passion is expected, so is respect.

on every single direction to chat in any way shape or form linked to otep.

    learn it peeps

  • sorry, wasn't thinking I was bashing.

I happened to have the booklet in hands and some of your words are not exact and I think that the text is really important for this song.

  • which is why i didn't delete your comment on spot.

if its' more than a few lines, msg me with the corrections thx :)

  • @ftoune RIGHT ON FTOUNE for paying attention to detail! YOU ROCK!

  • this song has to be the most fantastic saddest song i've ever heard, i can't stop listening to it

  • this song is truly beautifu;, some of Oteps best work. I cant stop listening to it its so sad

  • 1st verse: Date rape

2nd verse: Child brides, female circumcision

    3rd verse: Single mothers struggle

celebrates the strength of women to survive no matter what they face.

  • I dont agree with your take on the second and third verse. but how is the second verse related to female circumcision?

  • @OctoberandAfternoon 'she put flowers in my hair, im to meet my groom down by the sea, cracked the crown to pluck the pearl' this is referring to the nations where they circumcize your girls and marry them off

  • Amazing Song. Love itt with all of my heart. <3

  • its togethether we will bloom

  • from where?

  • on the third verse last line " i promise i'll get us through

    together we will bloom"

  • fixed.

  • No rape. The girl had a fling with some guy, she got knocked up, married him because she was pregnant, and now has a kid and a lame life.

  • What the fuck? It's about three different stories, which has already been confirmed. Date Rape, Child Marriage, and Escape of a woman and her children after domestic abuse. How could you get something like that out of the lyrics? ESPECIALLY with lines like 'he shoves her to the ground,

her sole begins to drown' 'well make our escape' and 'surrender your free will'

  • Comment removed

  • Well if it has been confirmed then I guess I don't have an argument, but I'll answer your question.

First off, I don't think the scenario (be it right or wrong) is too far fetched from stories of the song. A night of sex leads to a marriage of convenience (or appeasement), leads to a difficult life.

  • The first part doesn't sound like date rape to me it sounds like a night of irresponsible sex. "Shoves her to the ground" - could be done in violence or in passion. "Her soul begins to drown" - yeah, there's not much good about that one. I probably didn't pay enough attention to that one.

  • sounds like heat of passion, her soul is drowning in the moment...overwealmed. ever feel so caought up in the moment...feels like it would never escape you? thats what i think shes saying

  • she herself stated that its about date rape, arranged marrage, and escaping domestic abuse
