First off, I don't think the scenario (be it right or wrong) is too far fetched from stories of the song. A night of sex leads to a marriage of convenience (or appeasement), leads to a difficult life.
The first part doesn't sound like date rape to me it sounds like a night of irresponsible sex. "Shoves her to the ground" - could be done in violence or in passion. "Her soul begins to drown" - yeah, there's not much good about that one. I probably didn't pay enough attention to that one.

this song represents so many things that women go thru. our mothers, our sisters, our girlfriends, our daughters.....beautiful to listen to yet sad to know what happens to so many of us. i cry every time i listen to it.

@OdinCalls14 Although I agree that EA definitely contributes to the beauty of the song, I doubt the rest of Otep's music is really your cup of tea. If you love Emilie Autumn, generally you don't listen to metal involving rap and screaming interlaced. (I say generally because I know I love both EA and Otep) but really, their music isn't all like this, all metal bands have a ballad or two. At least female fronted ones usually do.

@evodkrad another way to tell if this holly knight character wrote perfectly flawed or this song, is by looking in the booklet in the cd. In the back, they *have* to put any copyrighted work to whoever wrote the piece. She will be in there if she did.

this song is about how certain thing u do in life are sign of growing up but its kinda sarcastic. the first verse is how some people think they're mature after they have sex. but what if its a rape? 2nd verse is about little girls getting sold to older men do to religious or cultural belifes as wifes in some parts of the world. the third verse is nice it talks about her own mother when she was young her mother actually told her that in a welfare line. and she kept her promise. otep is awsome

What the fuck? It's about three different stories, which has already been confirmed. Date Rape, Child Marriage, and Escape of a woman and her children after domestic abuse. How could you get something like that out of the lyrics? ESPECIALLY with lines like 'he shoves her to the ground,

Well if it has been confirmed then I guess I don't have an argument, but I'll answer your question.
First off, I don't think the scenario (be it right or wrong) is too far fetched from stories of the song. A night of sex leads to a marriage of convenience (or appeasement), leads to a difficult life.

The first part doesn't sound like date rape to me it sounds like a night of irresponsible sex. "Shoves her to the ground" - could be done in violence or in passion. "Her soul begins to drown" - yeah, there's not much good about that one. I probably didn't pay enough attention to that one.
