I just bought the Power Pack + ALONE, without the dock, and it is SUCH a lifesaver! Takes away all the stress the 3DS battery brings, and makes your 3DS experience even more heavenly (if that is even possible). I never EVER used the original dock, so for $9.99 at Best Buy (and they had a shyt load of them) You can buy JUST the Nyko Power Pack + battery. VERY small price for making your shine in it's TRUE form!
This is a great thing, guys. I advise you get it BUT WITHOUT THE BASE. Just the back. It makes my battery last forever. GREAT for long trips. It does take a little getting used to with the huge back though. I got over it in a day.
i do agree that the battery life is horrible. because the battery life sucks i have to lower the brightness to 1 and put the 3d of just so that i can have some extra hours on my game
It's either this or the Mugen Power Battery for me. Dumb question, does this work with every 3DS irrespective of region? If not I might wait for Mugen to release a European version of their battery extender. It's way better. Might be better stuff out by then too.
Well Ipod when playing a normal 3D game is only an hour so compare 3DS has three times the battery life as an ipod. An that's when my Ipod's wifi is turned off and the brightness is just above half.

Okay so I reset all my counters to put this thing to the test and so far I have done 3.5 hours of mario 3d land and 45 minutes of netflix with all bars still full.
When I got this for my 3DS, I just grabbed a bigger screwdriver with the same tip (I have a case full of screws with various tips) it took me no lesser than five minutes to find the right screw (I have to be delicate putting back screw with my case or it won't close properly), than use that little midge of a screw.
Good for people with small hands or children who are savvy, but for me and others, not something we won't to deal with, because I can't rummage around my toolbox for replacements.
@residentevil54460 fuck yea im serious. look at the specs of the vita its poor. 3ds lasts about 6-8 without this battery pack vita last 3-5 but with limitations like low brightness, headphones on, and no 3g! also vita comes with no memory so u have to buy an external memory card that costs between 30 to 40 bucks damn.
@kiokennexpell Yes minimum brightness and no 3d would be the best way to go on a long trip and no brightness with 3d will extend it to 6 hours and I recommend 3d for a short period then turn it off hope that helped :)

I love the doubled battery life. Though, when I got my 3DS, I just purchased the battery itself and having been using what was once my new 3DS with just that battery. I've heard complaints about the cradle for the Nyko Battery Pack so I use my 3DS AC adapter to charge it and it doesn't not seem too long to me despite not having as many amperes as the cradle.
People fail at taking out screws..... we can invent cars, planes, jets, but we will fail daily on the common screw. Why Oh why dont people turn to the left and strip them?
I have 2 ancient routers at work and home. Wireless G! And N. Works fine on both. I have no issues. I woul estimate about 10 hrs on my battery with power save, no wireless, and low brightness.
About 6 with everything on. Not bad at all.
I cant play anymore than 2 hrs anyway bcuz I get bored

@GrantPHenry Is there a down side in using the dock on the first charge? I charged it on the dock before the installation then I played it till it died. Now the battery meter is saying it isn't charged. My second charge is using the cord though. Should I just exchange it for a new one since it's only been a day?
@GrantPHenry i finally got it on today, but i stripped one of the screws and i had to rip out the back cover then use pliers to turn it, scratched up the 3ds a bit :(. 3DS seems to be much more fragile than original ds. I rather bigger and more durable than smaller and more fragile.
It turns out I didn't need the nyko battery because I rarely travel. Unfortunately the sticker on the barcode was starting to come off so I removed the barcode, lol. It looks like I might have to buy the nyko battery after all, lol. Anyways you can still buy a replacement cover for the 3ds right?
@MuzzaHukka I stopped loving it. It ruined a 2 hour session of OOT and that was the last straw. I stopped playing Ghost Recon entirely. And that WAS the replacement unfortunately.
@tactK It does work. I guess you have a PAL UK console like me. I have a british 3DS and it works excellently!!! II also bought a NSTC/J (Japanese) console with an additional battery (2x Batteries 1x NYKO dock) . Only thing is that you can't charge two 3DSes at a time and they only sell additional batteries so you can't get a new dock!
The problem I had is that the screwdriver that came with the battery wasn't small enough. I was able to find a smaller one in an eyeglass repair kit I got at Chicago's O'Hare airport that worked great.
Do you need the charging base? How do you recharge the batteries with the 3ds? I have never owned a DS handheld but I do plan on buying the 3DS when the price drops.
I prefer to play games like Mercenaries while my ds is on the stand. Because it adds some more grasp to it and its easier to hold while pushing the shit out of ur buttons

my 3ds keeps randomly shutting off. i haven't dropped it or anything its like the battery is dieing when its fully charged. i turn it back on and it shuts off before the screen turns on after like 5 minutes it works fine. and the red light saying its charging only stays on for like 10 seconds. can anyone help me?
I just grabbed the CTA 3DS grip and it works like a dream--I would grab this Nyko battery but I have doubts about whether this device would work with that device. I guess I'll hold off until somebody combines the two (grip/charger). This was a damn good review, though. I'm impressed.

Not just this video in particular, but people need to stop complaining about the battery life! If you need the battery to last a long time then turn the damn 3D effects off and turn the light town a notch or two. Jesus!
Well Obviously that makes it better, but even with everything turned down and with power saving mode on, the battery life is still short of 5 hours, which for an extensive trip or total on-the-go playability is actually pretty terrible. With this added pack the battery lasts 5 and a half hours with 3D, Wireless, and Brightness settings maxed out.
Now you cant put the nerf armor because of that battery or another case

I take my 3DS off the dock when I leave in the morning, play throughout the day and it's still good when I get home. Battery life is not an issue.
However, it would be nice to have it last for two days for overnight trips.

step 1: works well
step 2: gives wrong power reading
step 3: the dock doesn't work unless I position perfectly
step 4: stops charging after half an hour
step 5: stops charging at all

@FireGuyX You don't need the charging base, but you can't use the original base that comes with the 3DS. So you have to just plug the power cable in.

to make this vid really funny is click on the cc button on the bar where you change the volume and stuff then click on transcribe audio and then sit down and relax and alot of crap will come up its hillarious i did it in the last vid and it said well doen you did the penis size small well doen even though jeremy ment soemthing else it hillarious do this with all vids you find boring its brilliant

the battery life lasts about 5 hours for me if i put the brightness to 1 and have power saving mode on.

my 3ds keeps randomly shutting off. i haven't dropped it or anything its like the battery is dieing when its fully charged. i turn it back on and it shuts off before the screen turns on after like 5 minutes it works fine. and the red light saying its charging only stays on for like 10 seconds. can anyone help me?

A worse battery life is the GP2X Wiz, it's like half an hour before recharge, and it needs a USB port, no wall outlet

I just grabbed the CTA 3DS grip and it works like a dream--I would grab this Nyko battery but I have doubts about whether this device would work with that device. I guess I'll hold off until somebody combines the two (grip/charger). This was a damn good review, though. I'm impressed.

Sorry, my comment made it look like I was saying this longer battery is useless.More battery life is always important even if the battery lasted 10 hours, making it last even longer would always be better. I'm going to get this when I buy my 3DS and this was defiantly a bad vid to post my comment . I was just saying guys who do reviews always say "has no battery with3D effects on" and was just saying turn it off when you need more battery lol

Not just this video in particular, but people need to stop complaining about the battery life! If you need the battery to last a long time then turn the damn 3D effects off and turn the light town a notch or two. Jesus!

Well Obviously that makes it better, but even with everything turned down and with power saving mode on, the battery life is still short of 5 hours, which for an extensive trip or total on-the-go playability is actually pretty terrible. With this added pack the battery lasts 5 and a half hours with 3D, Wireless, and Brightness settings maxed out.

Why should people have to turn off the 3D effect just so they can save some battery life?? the 3D is the systems main selling point.
