For the most part the last half is true, but I will say this, if the US could ever put together a real World Cup run, and I mean real, as in making it to the semifinals but preferably the finals, watch out. If "football" were to take hold in the youth of the country, we've got the athletes to put top form players out there.
I like the usa, even though 95% of all professional athletes from america probably play basketball, football, golf, or baseball. We still can be good at soccer!
While I don't think white players suck, when you look at MLS, the teams with hispanic players do better on average, than teams with no HIspanics on it. The reason why the national team is so much better now than 20 years ago, is because we're choosing players with more diverse skills and capacity. Dempsey would have been the Donovan of 20 years ago, but with Donovan not retired, what you get are two great players on a great, well more like okay, national team.

We have guys/girls that have been training since they could run and kick a ball. on top of that, I'm of Scottish decent, and my club has won the regional championship 5 years runnning. During the world cup, There were hundreds of parties, and thousands of fans just in my city. And youre telling me the US doesnt like soccer?
