It lifts it great, I just wish it lifted higher. I might relocate the lift pins on the rotary mower to get more height. It will lift it without any weight on the front, but it gets light on the front, 4 suitcase weights make it rock solid.
According to the JD website, the 3-pt hitch is $567, and the rear PTO is $859. I had it installed when I bought the tractor new, I'm not sure what the labor cost would be. I mowed some pretty thick brush, and the engine didn't bog down at all.
I had a 445 with the 3-pt hitch, but it was a category 0 instead of cat 1, so I couldn't use the rotary mower with it.
Very nice demonstration. I own a JD 455 diesel and have been contemplating adding the rear pto. If you don't mind me asking, how much extra did the rear pto and 3 point hitch cost you from the dealer? How thick of pasture/brush can you cut before the lawnmower seems to bog down?

is equal to the rear hydraulics when buying it or you have to buy it and only shows you how much the weights kostner
