This was the best bass cover of system of a down - - - toxicity. Looks like he study his music theory and scales, so that he can make his own style of cover. I'm a bass player as well, but I just started to play again. I am studying all the music theory and scales because I want to be as good as this kid.

@ThePdiddles I think i see a Peavey logo on the head. And it has the same shape as my bass, with the same tuning pegs and head stock shape, but who knows, too many guitars look the same now-a-days

@IsThis4Entertainment Yeah, most likely. I didn't really look at the logo, but now it seems pretty likely that it's a Peavey. Their's and Ibanez's SR series both have very similar body styles, so I wasn't positive. But yeah, I think you're right.

Nice, but your tone would be much, much better if you boosted the bass in the EQ a little bit.

The real track is in drop C giving it the very low sounds this song has, without it it wouldn't be anything live for exemple. You just cant deny that but your cover sounds good. If the real bassist played it this high it would sound a bit weak.

Couple things first:

1) You put in a lot of little riffs here and there that weren't in the actual song, but sounded pretty good anyeway. :D

2) the key for this song is actually really really weird because Shavo tunes his bass very strangely and no one transposes it for regular tuning.

3) That very first part you play is an octav high. Other than that, good job! :D

You might be wrong about the tuning. Watch the live video closely. the live version he is clearly playing in an octive lower. It does sound good how you are playing it. It's a little cleaner your way.

@gangsterthomas1000 Toxicity plays in "Drop C" Which is technically a Drop D ...one whole step Down.

C G C F A D on the guitars and C G C F on the Bass.

However what they forget is that as a bassist you don't really NEED to tune down to grab that lower C, just play it one octave higher and add more bass on your AMP ..problem solved. Forget internet Tabs ..especially as Bassists we need to get our ears tuned, try to figure it out by listening, that's the best practice ;)

I've never played Rotosounds on my Ibanez SR705. I played the original Elixir Strings, Dunlop Steel, DR HiBeam, Dean Markley Blue Steel and now only DR Lorider 45-130, 5 kits of them 'til now. I love them but they are very raw.

Very nice playing, tone, and bass! I've always regreted not picking up one of the '90s-era SR-1015, 1305, or 5005s at what was a killer bass for the price at the time, as the mid-90s had BY FAR the highest quality Soundgears Ibanez made until this past year and the *new* SR-5005e model. Tonally it sounds very close to my '96 SR-1206 - smooth with just a touch of Spector/Warwick-esque grind to it.
