Here's some Trivia: The reason why this film never saw the light of day for most Vhs Tapes in Most countries is because (And I quote) A member of a Japanese "No Nukes" group cayght wind of the film. Watched it, and was horrified at the Imagery it displayed. So they complained to Toho abd a Major Censorship board. But this happened after it came out on Tv .
They Red Band this Movie in 1980s, and ever since, bootlegs, and some Drastic cut versions exist outside of Japan.

The German Version of this Movie ist indeed heavy edited, this Happend also to Nihon Chinbotsu(Das letzte Inferno der Untergang Japans), Gorath (Ufos zerstören die Erde), The Last War (Todesstrahlen aus dem Weltraum) and Virus (Overkill- Durch die Hölle zur Ewigkeit) by Kinji Fukasatsu. I think this kind of has bothered the german distributers in some way.

i saw this. some of the things they show in this are not out of the question. for example,. if we can have a hole in the ozone layer, or red ocean surfaces, then a red & reflective sky due to pollution might be possible.
I have the uncut Hong Kong english dub with Danish fan subtitles. I say it's one of the strangest films I have ever seen. It's like a trainwreck, but it makes you beg for more at the same time.
@GueiGirl, the Hong Kong English dub with the Danish subs is NOT the uncut version. The original Japanese version runs 114 minutes and was never dubbed into English. The complete version is in all sincerity the best way to see the film as it has a sincere message and many plot points and characterization that is missing in the English language versions.

当時確か小学一年生の時、テレビで放送されて見た記憶があります。アップ主様がおっしゃる通り、何故かバイクもろとも崖から落ちていくシーンが一番衝撃的でした。
永遠とスローモーションで崖から落ちていくバイクと若者を見ながら、何故死ぬの？と子ども心ながら悲しくなったのを覚えています。

I just found that out when I bought the Japanese with English Subititles version on the site called Hard to Find films. It has every cut available.
