I bought one for motocross, but I think I'll wear it under a textile suit for bombing canyons. Being able to remove the back means I can wear my Forcefield Pro Sub 4 back with it.
I'm 5 foot 7, 155 Lbs Athletic built. Do you think the small fits on me? and I'm having trouble finding the small size on black/white bionic any idea where can i get it?
@jlim422 The white has been discontinued and the red/black is due back in stock end of October. If you like we can get your info and take a preorder on that.
@rhcpandsum41 You would have to remove all of the armor that comes in the suit first. Even then it would add a lot of extra bulk. It would only be comfortable if the suit was a little to the big side.
Any reason why you wouldn't recommend it as a replacement for a warm weather street jacket? You list uses as MX, and under a textile, but not as a stand alone jacket.
@Xolias The material that connets the armor does not offer a level of abrasion resistance I would look for in a jacket. That being said the only thing that would touch down in most crashes would be the plastic shells of the armor. Best used with a jacket over it IMO.
@Xolias you can wear it instead of a street jacket. i don't see why not. some protection is better than none and it protects the most important areas. better than going squid or just wearing a vest. excellent for summer imo when the temperatures are extremely hot and you have to decide between decreased protection or dehyrdation.
Will you guys ever carry the short sleeve version? I have a Yoshi jacket with good elbow protection, but the back and shoulder guards are overly bulky so I normally ride without them (not safe, I know)... and I was hoping to order off you guys, not direct from A-stars
@BigGixxerUSA It sounds like you are referring to the Alpinestars Bionic SP Vest. We offer that one as well, a good seller for us actually. Please send me an email to service at sportbiketrackgear and I will shoot you the link to the product. If you like you can always call in 888-784-4327 and we will take care of you.
@Sportbiketrackgear i was actually referring to the Bionic S 2 Jacket... sorry for not clarifying. I did not see it listed on your product list, and i would not like to pay alpinestars retail price or have to deal with their customer service. youtube wont let me post the link for it, sorry
thanks for making this video man. i really appreciate it. you've givin me a reason to get back on my longboard (skateboard). i liked how you mention it. great work, when the weather gets better, I'm going to be buying from you. very informative! thanks again and keep giving us info on these products, I'm a total noob, don't ride motorcycles just boards and just looking for a safer way to ride.
Is it ok to use this while riding on the street without a textile jacket over it? Although it might be meant for motocross, it seems like this would provide good ventilation for riding in places like texas. Anyway im just wondering if its still safe to use this while street riding. Thanks.
@Julio765 Considering there is hard shell armor in all the impact areas I would say it would be pretty effective. If you were to slide a long time that could be an issue, for impacts you would be fine.

QUESTION....would it be a bad idea to wear if alone for street riding? Its hot as hell here in GA but I don't wanna ride without any protection and mesh jackets are still too hot for me.. Look for a COOL way to ride to work, don't wanna show up all sweaty even more so with road rash... thanks
absolutely love your vids guys. seems that a leather jacket would be way to snug if i wear this jacket under it. how does it feel under a leather riding jacket?
is it possible to buy the shoulder protectors by themselves? Cuz i haven't seen them for sale by themselves and only see them attached to alpinestars and knox vests and jackets.

Can I just wear this jacket along while riding street bikes? Or do I need something else over it?

How much does it weight, size L for example?
Does the back protector piece come in more than one size for taller people? If yes, which size of protector has the longest back plate?
Thank you in advance

What is the difference b/t this jacket and the alpinestar S-MX Bionic 2 Protection? for $299. Wondering which one is better for MX
Pmason718 11 months ago
This looks much bulkier than the knox cross shirt. Is it or does it just look that way?
I am looking for armor for street use. I commute to work 30 miles one way. Dont want anything too bulky or it might not fit under my jacket.
I'm on a budget, is the knox worth the extra coin? Or is this a comparable piece?
lives2live 11 months ago
@lives2live The Bionic 2 is a nice piece for sure. Pull the trigger on this one and you will be happy for sure

How does this work with a leather suit? It looks like the elbow armour would be the hardest to fit in a suit.

Witch one iz better Alpinestars Bionic 2 or KNOX Cross Shirt?
LatiTea18 2 years ago
Depends really. They are both good for sure. The Cross Shirt offer a 1 piece chest guard which protects your sternum. Beyond that very comparable IMO

I'm debating between a size L and M. I'm 5'11 about 175 lbs mildy build as well, my arms a 34/35 on dress shirts, what size would you guys recommend?

I would suggest the large. There is plenty of adjustment to get the fit where you need it to be.

If you like it that is all that matters IMO

No, wearing this alone is not common. Most often worn under a jersey or a jacket, sometimes under a race suit.
