a 305 is not a junk motor i had one in my firebird for 20 years and the only thing i had to change was the oil and filter pluges wires and alt. i got a 383 in her now but 305 is a great cruse motor
the puff of blue smoke is normal on initial start up with the 305 AND the 350 due to cracking of the shitty valve stem seals that GM puts in them, oil pools on the intake valves and burns off on start up.
@IROCZ305 The only difference between a 350 and a 305 is bore size. Its the exact same motor...same crank, rods...everything. Besides...the TPI system actually looses power past 5000rpm on a 350...with a 305 you can squeeze out usable horsepower just past 6000 rpms...305 breaths just a bit less because of the smaller bore size. Source: I've been working on 3rd gen F bodies for years. And I've built 305 and 335 (stroked 305) setups that out perform 350 and 383 setups "using stock TPI."

Nice Camaro mate, my KITT is an 87 GTA with the 305 TPI too, mine takes off ok but when im on the motorway it takes him a while to start overtaking too, once he gets a bit of momentum up its good though !

I've taken off the blackout panels, straightened out the tailpipes and removed the after market fog lamp you can see under the right hand side of the car which is a requirement here in the UK. I got to get some more videos up soon but the weather is so bad at the moment.

305 is a junk smog motor and its tired note the blue smoke at start up.. thats burning oil..its a clean car just needs a good 350 ci crate motor..

I started using 5W-30 oil and it doesn't smoke anymore, but a 350ci is my ultimate goal!

maybe not, i had the same problem and i replaced all my valve stem seals, but she will still smoke like that on certain days
