I'm not sure I like sword on gun combat I can't quite get over the unrealism of it all.

Best Gun vs sword scene was in Samuari Champaloo when Rin kills that old friend/enemy of Mugens. Its short, smooth and bloody how a gun vs sword fight should be. Not that I'm hating on Black Lagoon :)

That is so true, animes just need to be watched in Japanese to get the best out of them. It doesn't matter if it is an anime or any other program of some sort, English dubs just tend to suck bad.. I don't know about the translation, it may be alright, but the way the voice actors empathize with their characters and situation is just lame. Black Lagoon doesn't seem to be exception..

@belly8900 In further depth, it's about modern piracy in the seas of the pacific ocean and how a japanese white collar worker gets dragged into a pirate crew of a chinese-american nihilistic gunner, an american ex-marine and an american former college dropout who's skilled (at least compared with the rest of the crew) with computers. The characters are far from generic though. I recommend it, it's my favourite anime.

@bellyjelly Actually is she even the protagonist? I've watched season 1, 2, and read some of the manga. Seemed a lot like the series focuses more on Rock, or at the least divides the show between him and Revy. Revy won't die though cause even though this is a dark and serious anime, it still has that anime charm and usually when an anime still ensures that it doesn't become purely a dark and serious style it tends to have jolly ol' anime endings. Think Samurai Champloo meets Cowboy Bebop.

@AfternoonWolfSpice I tried 'tiering' all the gunfighters and assassins in Black Lagoon, but it's not easy. Example - The Greenback Jane arc shows Shenhua and Revy as about equal. Whilst the first Lovelace arc shows Revy and Roberta as equal, suggesting by extension that Shenhua and Roberta would be a rough match. But in Roberta's Blood Trail, Roberta defeats Shenua without trying. Reckon for certain only Mr. Chang is better than Revy. Roberta and Genji might be as well, but can't be sure.

@MasterofSpiders Roberta vs Revy is tough, but I think from the Lovelace Arc Roberta has the edge (It's claimed she 'won' their encounter in the arc, as well). Mr. Chang is better than Revy, certainly, and she admitted she only beat Genji with Rock's help, so I'd put him above her, too.

Roberta is definately badass, and yes, she knocked out Revy ... but still she wasn't able to get on her feet again without help. And since Revy had a 45 cal bullet in her shoulder and therefore was loosing blood all the time - I think the toughness award goes to Revy.

Ginji is a great fighter, but have a closer look at 2:34, 2:40 and 3:00.

She could have shot him right in the face but instead chose to give him a little wake up call.

She didn't want this battle to end so early

@protator I agree- and it fits Revy's personality. She's a bloodthirsty, violent creature who's probably bored to death by many of her "opponents" - Ginji's probably giving her the time of her life, in a way. Kinda like Alucard from Hellsing. They're both tired and bored and too strong to die without a fight - but it's hard to find someone who can take them down.

It's been tested and proved on Mythbusters and other experiments that a sword can slice through a bullet.The sword must be quite sharp and harder than the bullet and the angle must be dead on.More often then not, unless you move quick, some pieces of the bullet may still hit you.
