ok as a referee and a goalie let me just straighten the whole rule thing up. its a european league so unless any of you are from europe you dont know and you cant assume the rules are the same. secondly in most leagues in the usa the goalie can go anywhere he wants on the ice but once he crosses the red line he is subject to the same stick legality rules as most players and therefor can only play the puck with a players stick.

No, look at the video carefully! As the goalie was leaving, the referee had his arm up meaning it's a delay penalty call. The goalie made the right move by leaving the net early for an extra attacker. Apparently this happened at the very end when the other team had empty net. But it was a delayed call, that's why the goalie left and was allowed to cross the blue line.

I don't know about that blue line thing, I'm a goalie too, I always thought our boundary was the red line unless we were going to the bench on a delayed penalty or being pulled for an extra skater. I'd swear I saw Rick DiPietro of the NY Islanders earlier this season make a glove save, drop the puck and stickhandle with it almost to the red line to start a rush up the ice in one of those two situations.
