  • he was very easy to beat you are by far the better player . you just made too many mistakes of the forehand capitalise on his weak serve

  • where are you based? Are you a coach ?

  • do you still play? if so please upload more of your matches

  • u talk too much should let your racquet do the talking :S

  • @MrAmon1995 there's not talking on this vid bro but i got a series called hi10spro speaks :D go listen :D

  • u talk too much should let your racquet do the talking :S

  • So funny to read the comments... these guys would smash most if not all of the arm chair quarter backs on here... the camera slows down the ball ....

  • @mrbullyson777 it's the internet :D so what do you expect :D

  • I'm a 4.5 and I would work both these guys over. Blue shirt is most definitely no 5.0. The short guy hits well, but bigger, more athletic guys would hit him off the court.

  • @kkct7 but i would tune you :D

  • @hi10spro Nah I honestly don't think you would. But you are an interesting player. I wish we could play each other.

  • @kkct7 see now i'm scared because you gave a valid answer. most guys would go crazy. cool cool i have a standing offer if you come to bangkok, i am willing to play

  • @hi10spro Well I live in Michigan, but hey if I'm ever in Bangkok, I'll contact you to play. Loser buys the beer?

I'm also about a foot taller than you, but I play much a different game, so it would be an interesting match for sure.

  • @kkct7 oh i used to work in okemos at courtone east and i played some tournaments in grand rapids, kalamazoo, and ? lansing... my friends are all based out of kalamazoo--tom walker, oak sadd, andrew caldwell--upi--traverse city, and a chen guy at the mac by msu

  • @hi10spro Oh wow. Yeah I live in metro detroit. I'm not on the west side of the state too often. Andrew Caldwell rings a bell, but I've never heard of the others.

  • @kkct7 walker from kalamazoo. he's still there. i played in detroit at some indoor facility for regionals? we lost though. indoor court but damn the court was glass...totally unexpected. took us about half a set to get used to it...and wham the match was pretty much over--it was mixed doubles. we were the okemos team 2005?

  • i like ur laugh!!! lol

  • @squaziel heheehhe tennis is just a game, and games are meant to be fun

  • Does anyone else not have a problem with these guys being 5.0? I'd actually say 4.5, but I can totally imagine them being 5.0 in some leagues. According to the USTA, a 5.0 player has to have sound footwork, solid groundstrokes, good put-away volleys. On top of that, they usually have an outstanding shot or attribute to structure a game around.

I think his forehand, shot anticipation, and structuring of points all suits the 5.0 level. The only issue I can see might be the opponent's serve.

  • @maddcow12 pete's extremely consistent. I have a serve and volley game. my weapons are directional, i can play one side of you, if you don't like high ball, i can loop. if you like pace, i can slow it down. if you don't like low ball, i can chip. i can dropshot you and bring you in. i'm versatile. that's not 4.5. i can play baseline, net, or both. but it's true for 5.0 you need a big weapon--i'm okay with 4.5 now that all of usa is a bunch of sandbaggers...

  • @hi10spro I totally agree with you as far as the "sandbaggers" comment goes. But that's what I have noticed recently. A lot of 4.5-5.0 players can't make it very far because the game has been taken over by scrappers. I think you can be 5.0 in some leagues, but it depends. A lof of the 5.0 players I have seen are at the point where they devote a lot of their time to fitness and speed.

  • @maddcow12 the hard part for 5.0's is that there is no 5.0 league, and making the jump to open is too big a jump

  • i would be a 7.5 in usa but here in england that would be the equivalent i dont know why everyone hates the way you play . sure your not that great but your having fun I guess. The serve needs a few tweeks but seeing your height you look like Michael Chang , you run for the ball at any cost . But you would be ripped to pieces against say someone of a height of 6ft 5 and over 6-0 6-0

  • @KN10SKILLED heheheh there is no 7.5. i like the chang comparison. serving is a function of height so if you got height and some skills

  • @hi10spro oh my bad you see im from britain , you should come here and play you would love it , yes i do believe your like Chang , you defy the odds agaist bigger men but lack in power but you have the speed I believe , you are a 5.0 no doubt

  • @hi10spro No affence but the guy you were playing seems very easy to beat , he lets himself open and leaves a lot of space on the court open

  • @KN10SKILLED he's top five in thailand for 50's. he's actually a real good indicator of how well i'm playing. he's really hard to beat

  • @KN10SKILLED It's kind of obvious that someone doesn't know what they are talking about when they say they're better than the top rating. 7.0 is the top dude. 7.0 is an upper level pro who makes all of their money through tournament winnings. It doesn't make any sense to say you're 7.5

  • Watching again I would say blue guy low 4.0, white shirt guy solid 4.5.

  • Rating is BULL CRAP

  • federer 10 years after retirement

  • @dellam04 heehehehh now that is a compliment, thank you

  • haha you fell to pieces in the tiebreak bro!

  • @shamalot44 yep i felt so tired...sadness and we played at night

  • 5.0...NOT! 3.5 is correct. I think I am 5.0-5.5 I can hit winners off every one of those returns! Nothing personal, but is this NTRP rating serious? WTF? I must not have much confidence in my ranking, but I would crush these guys. You can actually tell a players' ranking by their movements and shot power/accuracy. I hit winners from anywhere near the baseline. I did play #1 singles in HS and almost collegiate. I never knew what my ranking was or is today. This video did not help.

  • This is not 5.0...

  • @DpStankHeals you are probably right now... I'm computer rated 5.0 BUT i just played a 4.5 guy this year, it appears the ratings have gone down

  • whose that demonic laugh at 00:43? lol

  • @denbal87 me...

  • 0:23 evil maniacal laugh

  • A 5.0 is only two rankings under a tennis pro (7.0) and one under a nationally ranked player (6.0). The guy in blue doesn't even take a split step to return serve. And the near player can't return a 60 mph serve. This is what happens when old people rate themselves. The NTRP scale is flawed.

  • @tsongaNdance no dude, the rankings go up by .5 a 7.0 pro is therefore, 4 levels above a 5.0... 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0. my ntrp might be flawed but it's flawed by the system, i'm computer rated 5.0 based on my performance as a 4.5--league 9-1, sectionals and nationals 5-1. but being 5.0 in hawaii, we won it 3 times and went to nationals but didn't do so hot. however, if i won a match in mixed or 5.0's i was always 5.0.. and i don't dump matches thus i'm 5.0 probably for one more year :D wooh

  • I like both your laugh and your slice (backhand AND serve) :]

  • @scbaldwin13 HAHAHAHAHHA

  • Does every american under 7.0 shoot so ugly??

  • @homefield93 under 7.0...hmmm we're not playing pool, but it's not ITF rating, so this is about 5.0. It goes up and down by .5

  • Guy in blue shirt is definitely not a 5.0 ... barely a 4.0 even.

  • @squaborn he is 53...got to the ITF semis here in Pattaya, that's a grade 2 by the way. He is top 5 in Thailand although he's Swedish. Pete's a TOUGH match add in that the temperature is 33 or so Celsius about 94 F...

  • @hi10spro - nice resume. Not bad for his age. But still, I'd put him at 4.0. By the way, your forehand don't float as much anymore. Good thing you got rid of that huge loop on your forehand side.

  • @squaborn the key...is so simple... i hit only at a distance against the wall, watch video of myself hitting on my phone constantly, and once a week hit crosscourt fh, crosscourt bh, and middle shots for 10 minutes each, 30 all together...unreal impact

  • @hi10spro - good for you G. Next is to develop a flatter forehand for offense :) .. but in all seriousness, your forehand looks a lot better than how it was earlier this year.

  • @squaborn once a week, crosscourt fhs, crosscourt bhs... middle...do that every week...for about 10 weeks... and presto...

  • @hi10spro - my groundies are fine... actually, it's my strength. (result of playing juniors and college tennis). It's my net game that needs work. But then I don't have the drive to improve anymore. Right now, my tennis is strictly recreational.

  • @squaborn it's hard to keep playing after playing college. no time

  • @hi10spro as someone trying to teach themselves tennis (can't afford a coach right now), this fills me with hope. There's a practice wall at my club. If you can get that much better, with the quality of a phone camcorder (which, even if v good, will have a small lens and limited quality), well ... time for me to buy a tripod I think and test it for myself.

  • @lystellion OH for sure, check the wall workouts--BUT stand far back and take a full swing, DON"T WORRY ABOUT TWO BOUNCES--the problem with the wall is to hit on one bounce, you have to be really close, being really close gives you an abbreviated swing that on a court will translate into a short shot

  • @hi10spro thanks for that, that's great advice. I had thought about that - the abbreviated swing problem. I will do as you say when I get myself a tripod :)

  • @lystellion you can do it with just a bench or something, you need to have the camera elevated. check it--what really works for me is in the course of a rally i'll have a great shot. that shot i edit into a slow motion shot, and then, put the video on my phone. i watch the vid before my matches

  • @lystellion check my wall workout video--it takes 15 minutes and you'll hit a 1000 balls

  • If these guys are 5.0 I'm Roger Federer

  • @LexingtonWells Hi Roger, nice to meet you

  • You have an evil laugh , AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA ..

    hehehe

  • @3zizjassim OMIGOD...my wife gets pissed when i do that, she says I do it all the time when my friends really screw up or i just hit something totally beautiful... :D hehehehehe

  • omg at 4:12 the guy cant even smash

  • @r0baa you know I'm starting to notice that too...

  • Yo I've watched a few of your matches on here now and I'm not hating, your results probably back up your 5.0 rating. I think what people are responding to is that your groundstroke and serve form look a little stiff sometimes. Buy hey, who cares? They get the job done and produce some nice placement and OK pace. Besides you like to come to net and your volley skills are very good. Your def a solid player, cool vids man. If I ever made it out to Hawaii I would love to play some sets with you.

  • @danteblaze14 i love to play, but i'm on a job in bangkok right now...so if you're in bangkok

  • @hi10spro haha I'm afraid I live in Massachusetts and New York but am currently in the UK for a couple months. I also find myself in the LA area somewhat frequently so if you are ever around those areas send me a message or something and we should play. I'm also a 5.0 and I also coach tennis.

  • @danteblaze14 you should go around the world and come through Thailand on the way to New York :D where do you coach at?

  • @hi10spro I used to coach full time in Acton, Massachusetts and I still work summers and winters there, but I decided to go to college so that's what I'm doing in New York. Right now I'm teaching in Wales, too, which is really fun. So you're in Bangkok for a while? Are you teaching there, too? What is the tennis like?

  • @danteblaze14 Wales--I have a friend from Wales--how is that? Tennis here is okay but you're limited in how much you can charge. Thais charge very little because wages are low here--$9 an hour is the rate for Thais. Foreigners can go as high as easy $30 us but to go to $60 is near impossible.

  • not possible.

  • wtf at 0:22

  • NTRP 5.0 Singles what does that mean

  • nice game

  • cant believe this guy are 5.0. I self rated 3.0 for USTA but i believe i am way better with these guys!! Forehand/backhand, volley and serve should be almost perfect and penetrating to be classified as 5.0 sorry!

  • @nadalemu can you get back to me after your 3.0 season, because if you don't dominate it...then, you suck.

  • im not saying this to be a dick, i just find it very interesting that ur a pretty short guy who plays tennis

  • @buddahbully oh homes, when I was in intermediate, I played basketball..one day my dad told my to pick another sport... lucky me

  • @hi10spro lucky you xD im almost 6 ft 189 lbs so i can do whatever i want :P

  • @buddahbully sigh...but my low volley is awesome... I am a LOW VOLLEY :D AHAHAHHAH your low volley is my overhead :D AHAHHA

  • @hi10spro i actually have a disguised baseline volley :D but i can your low volley would make people run into the net xD

  • By 5.0, I hope you mean generously self-rated 5.0. If you are actually registered by the USTA as a 5.0 player, than that is ridiculous! I'm a 4.0+ player who has played tennis for less than 2 years, and I'd pass you every time you approached the net. You do a drop volley to the side EVERY time you S&V. And the overhead at 4:14, wow. I'd say blue shirt is a middle-high 3.5 (he needs to learn to control his return, and not float it in the middle of the court) and you around a decent 4.0ish.

  • @smithcm14 post video of yourself. and i suggest you moderate the comments. I am 5.0 computer rated...but you'll get even worse comments than this ;) trust me.

  • @hi10spro I'd love too actually. Let me know how to set up a camcorder and everything, and I'd love be more self-aware of my game. Anyways, I'm not criticizing you to be mean, but I've played people who are former div I collage players at the 4.5 level, and they play at a much higher level. I'd like to see you play someone else. you seem to have good volley's and a pretty consistent flat serve. But yea, blue is definitely not at your level. He kicks every serve and can't control the ball well

  • Great touch at the net, hilarious laughs, and ugly groundies :)

The other guy's serve completely disqualifies him from being a 5.0.

  • @IvanAndreevich i've been thinking that...but it's a delicate thing so I can't make a comment. I know how to fix it too

  • no offense but this is more like 3.5 tennis in Southern Calif.

  • @bevanne12 I played in So Cal and played So Cal at nationals...it's 4.5

  • aw haw haw haw haw

  • what kind of approach shot is that at 1:27?

  • @Uknowthazrightnigga an okay one.

  • Nice job hitting that slice you rustic era mongolian, plaid polo shirt wit jean shorts while playing tennis wearin, All Day I Dream About Soccer talkin flap wearin, great tennis player

  • @Uknowthazrightnigga AHAHAHAH

  • can someone tell if this is ntrp 5.0 ? if this is 5.0 then I am a 5.5 lol

  • @r0baa it's open...:P

  • @hi10spro what?

  • @r0baa we're open players.

  • @hi10spro 'open" as in you play at open level? Cause last time I played open I played a friggin retired pro who retired to socal.........

  • How much did fatigue play into the results? It looked like you were getting tired and not getting to the shots as well. The reason I ask is because for me it seems that conditioning plays a major role in making my shots...

  • @ripperduck this wasn't that bad. the temperature was comfortable. the biggest problem occurs when we play daytime and it's like 100 degrees, 39 C...

  • @hi10spro This is in Thialand right?

  • @ripperduck yep, this match was playing in Bangkok

  • Mr.Coach, I'm wondering how tall you are. Can you please tell me.

  • @napoleanboots I'm 7 feet tall. five feet 6 inches...I suffer from the Asian disease...lackofheightis

  • Hey guys this is not a 5.0 level!!!!!!!!!!!! no offense but im a teaching pro and rated 5.0. this to me is strong 3.5 level. sorry have to be honest.

  • @gabe9873 I'm a p1... so i'm 4.5. sigh. if i had a nickel for every 3.5 comment I got...hahahah

  • @gabe9873

    I agree 100%

  • USTA ntrp system is nothing but a baloney..4.0... 5.0...6.0 for what ? practice and play that's how you can get good at tennis, Just play damn it...just play! Forget those numbers

  • @d0min0danc1ng Amen. I really feel that way also BUT people abuse the system--however, if you're in over your head and losing 6-0, 6-0 legitimately--it's no fun for you and no fun for me soo...don't know what to say about that

  • @FilipTboy89 no offense, I played So Cal and Nor Cal for Nationals in Orlando in 1999--and we schooled So Cal and barely lost to Nor Cal--but that was doubles. and this is not the phillipines

  • you guys are not 5.0....

  • @aznboitruong I am supposed to be a computer rated 5.0, much to my dismay--I miss being 4.5 for mixed doubles... BUT there's hope, the USTA said I can come down when i'm 43...WTH does that mean--that in 3 years I instantly turn junk... sigh...logic of that escapes me

  • where is that? u seem very passionate about tennis and i actually want to meet up and take lessons.

  • @1992marshmallow aw homes i'm working in bangkok now

  • the blue guy can't put smashes away... 5.0 -_-

  • Nice serve and volley by the way.

  • Is every state different on the rating? I always wanted to get a definite rating for myself. I just beat a girl that played for a D2 college 6-4. She is a 4.5 player. I think I'm anywhere from 4.0 to 5.0 at the highest I doubt it though.

  • @xzhydrozx when you do ratings, generally a 5.0 girl is a 4.5 man. You have to see what the ratings are like in your area--it's no fun to be rated inappropriately as you're going to lose. It's so much harder to move down than to move up so go and see how strong your leagues are and place yourself fairly...

  • How in the hell is this 5.0 level tennis? This looks like a 3.5 match.

  • @FilipTboy89 Cali is another tough place to play, but I've beaten guys from So Cal and lost to Nor Cal at Nationals--but when we lost to Nor Cal, they won the whole thing

  • 4:13 - 4:15 made my eyes bleed...

  • @Shawshank9393 hmmm

  • @Shawshank9393 yeah def not 5.0 material...

  • @Shawshank9393 i LOL'ed

  • Foot works are bad for NTRP 5.0

  • @wncheeta heheh we're old 5.0's...

  • @wncheeta thats why they are at 5.0

  • thanks man! i appreciate that. im ready for you now that im playing again! we will see how i do at 4.5 nationals

  • sorry i would challenge you but im a 4.5 now. sorry buddy!

  • @kaboobz um...you beat me with your left hand that one time...rich kept telling me to peg you, but I just couldn't...

  • And if you're wondering on that guy who sliced his backhand all day long in the finals of the National Open, his name is Steve Johnson... And he plays D1 starter tennis for USC right now. I'd love to see you even try to kick his 6.0+ ass after making a comment like that. But he owns a rather beefy first serve and a VERY nice kicker. He also hit the slice backhand by choice.

hi10spro, you might bump up your level if you stop trying to go for highlight reel half volleys. ;) Flashy player... XD

  • How dare u say that u can take me 6-0 ? I 15 but I would kick yours ass :P I will post a video soon!

  • i didn't say that... :P

  • r0baa, unless you're a nationally ranked player, you're not going to win against this guy... You can probably take a few games if you're near the top of your section in your age group, but not a set. If you're top of your section in the 18s division however, you can kick his ass. But that's the same as nationally ranked player. Haha.

And gabtennis588, I've seen a nationally ranked 18s division player slice his backhand all day in the finals of a Nationals Open in Hawaii and winning.

  • @Oreoclan you are the man :D

  • @Oreoclan were you at the National Open--you know I was there from 2004-06? or so...handsome asian guy about five feet five :P

  • with tihs type of racket you dont need to swing as hard on the ball.

  • dude...i don't... hell sometimes i just use the handle to return...

  • your opponent is really bad. His backhand really sucks. He is only able to do slice backhand

  • @gabtennis588 he was trying to irritate my forehand by hitting low slices. he has a two hander but he wasn't hitting it by choice

  • razi ca un terminat

  • i don't get it.

  • LOL dude u gotta get a new racquet with a smaller frame! 100 or even 98 would fit your game :D

  • @r0baa because i serve and volley...and when i beat you 6-0...no one cares what my racquet looks like

  • why do you use a racket with such a huge head size?

  • because i'm old and lazy

  • Why does this always happen? The guys are ranked 5.0s by the USTA and then a bunch of jackasses say "NOT EVEN CLOSE TO 5.0!". These guys are hitting some very difficult shots, and have great touch.

  • because people love to hate :P it's the internet. I'm used to it. I'm computer rated 5.0 until two more years...then, I'll self-rate like every other joe and come down. BUT the funniest thing ever was my friend told me to get as high rated as possible because I'm a tennis pro...he's a pro also...I became 5.0...he went down to 4.5... WTH

  • you gotta joking me... if they are 5.0 player I should be 5.5 or 6.0 player then. I play in a 4.5 league but our 4.0 players plays way better than them

  • where are you located?

  • btw, i can't believe you use a racket that only weighs 8.2 oz.

  • 8.4 strung :D

  • your a very good player, thats a mean backhand sice and drop volley you've got there. Your forehand was good when you had time to set it up (weren't on the run). Only weakness was your topspin backhand.

  • good 4.0s

  • get me the 4.0 i'll see you at Nationals :P

  • 4.0 at best

  • definitely not 5.0 thats for sure

  • yeah. I think we're more 4.5's oh Pete's the #1 ranked player in the 50's here...

  • weak section obviously.

  • Great video. Enjoyed it. If I'm ever in your area I'll have to look you up to have a hit.

  • i'm up for a game

  • i really enjoyed this vid. nice to see some play just above my level! how long have you played? :)

  • heheh 26 years...damn i'm old

  • good ole' serve n' volleys...its a dying style of play...yet very effective. Oh and that's a pretty sweet noise you make at 5:21 :)

  • I used to play at soi 50 2-3 times a week. Maybe we can get together and play sometimes? Give me a holler!

  • you got facebook? my full name is gary sakuma. message me :D

  • how da hell are these guys 5.0???

well, the guy in white is.....maybe 4.5ish

  • The guy in white, his strokes aren't pretty, but he looks like he really knows how to play within himself, and I don't doubt he can compete with 5.0 players. The other guy looks like a strong 4.0 to weak 4.5.

  • thanks dude...i hadn't played for two weeks i think

  • I don't know about the 5.0. These guys don't seem much better than local players here in NOVA rated 3.5-4.0. Maybe just a regional thing?

  • where's nova?
