Not bad, not bad. This gives the basic idea to the whole topic of making the pipes sound and cutting them off cleanly. You are right in that it takes practice. I've been playing for nearly 14 years and am a grade 1 solo player. I have also won the North American Championships in Ontario. Teaching the pipes is my main hobby. This is not too bad at all. A little more detail on the drones might complement your descriptions (e.g. having 2 vs 3 drones going).

It is an arduous process to make a bagpipe. First they slaughter a sheep, scoop out the innards, make haggis out of it & eat it for luck. Then the leg bones are shortened and hollowed out to make the drones & the blow pipes. The stomach is dried to make the bag. The tail is boiled continuously for 4 days until the tail bones fuse together. The tail is then hollowed out to make the chanter - the bumps on the chanter are the tail vertebrae. The left front hoof is shaped on a lathe into the reed.

Most of the people on here are not paid instructors, just people with a bit more knowledge than the average Joe about some craft or skill. Never twist the chanter from the bottom like he did: it will snap at the throat' always turn it holding the bulb and the stock with your hands close together. Never leave go of the chanter while you have the pipes under your arm: it can blow out if the joint has dried a bit. Never use sellotape over the holes it will curl up, come off or slide around with the moisture. Insulation tape is better. 'Expert' village? Village idiots more like.

for starters it's called the attack not "tap in".. secondly, you should work on your vocational skills more and stop trying to make everything sound so technical. thirdly, for those who don't know what the hell this guy's saying:

1. you must fill the bag with air

2. the drones must be sitting comfortably on your left shoulder

3. don't overfill the bag with air

4. in one clean motion, you must strike the bag, while blowing into the bag. this will get the drones going.

Yew canna learn bag control from a great muckle chanter laddie. Yew have ta get real pipes to learn to control the bag. Plus, the bag lets ya play the chanter properly as yew have the wind ya need ta power it. Yer firrst lesson on pipes is bag control anna it takes almost two weeks o practice 15 minutes a day ta master that.

its been awhile for me so my terminology is off but do you have to go the full bagpipes or can u use the substitute i think it was call goose something cant remember quite been like 5 years but is like the bag pipes but without the drones on it and a plastic reed and in my experience i didn't just jump into practicing the scale straight from the bagpipes find it takes a little more practice to master those bad boys
