  • You won't be disappointed - I'm aiming to see him when he comes on the UK leg of the same tour. He's still got it!!!!

  • i gona see them for the first time about 3 or 4 weeks here in the netherlands, i love them!

  • Just saw him tonight! His voice is raspy and rapturous, and the band is beyond reproach! I brought people who said they would go to the free concert, but could take or leave Johnny...at the end of the night they were crying! He and his band are amazing, inspiring...what music is all about!

  • @oximaureen I couldn't agree more - along with Bruce and Little Steven he's the best live act I've seen over the years. Like yourself it's my mission in life to try and convert as many people as possible to his stuff :-)

  • One of my favourite songs by my favourite band. I always thought this is as perfect as a 3-minute pop song can get.

  • I see him here in the U.S. whenever he plays near my city. He still does a Europe tour usually once a year.

  • @joninpgh So do I - seeing him in 3 weeks time - guaranteed to be a great show!

  • My favorite song by this group. Now I don't have to dig the album out when I want to hear it. Thanks for posting.

  • Was played by the Great Alan Rhodes at Wigan Casino around 1978 - he had it covered up then though

  • Top man Alan Rhodes - I liked him a lot

Do you know how he is these days?

I first heard IPTFool at the Central in Leeds and then went on to be a lifetime fan of all SJ's stuff

Seeing SJ this Oct/Nov at Holmfirth !!

I don't think the Northern connection ever had much impact on him :-)

Lots of people the other side of the pond still fans though - thankfully.

  • @demodiscs Last I heard of Alan he was DJing York - wearing flippers and a snorkel! That was a few years ago though! he was a top bloke and my main supplier of Polo's at the Casino since he worked at Rowntrees!

  • all his songs are great but its a shame that i never saw him live

  • every time i hear this tune i think of "tears of a clown",

  • terrific guitar playing during the verse...

  • Every Time I hear this tune of yours Derek I think of Dexy's Midnight Runners, I think I have said that to you before you posted it on here on Youtube, you only need to hear this and you can tell they must have been fans of his style.

It's a great upbeat track with a great rhythm section that's hard not to like, very very nice *****

  • @iGuy101 Thanks Guy - and they're both obviously massive soul fans which is why I like their stuff so much.

  • Just goes to show the breadth of music that, over the years, has been absorbed into what we know as the Northern Soul scene.

  • @tibus That's true and it must be that which keeps drawing me back to it even after 30 odd years.

  • great tune,love it :))

  • nice tune and I have to admit this is new to me.......des

  • Thanks Des - I think it was only played in the Leeds/York area in the U.K in the late 70's. The LP did well in the USA where he's much better known.

  • @brindlog You're not on your own Des - most UK soul fans have forgotten his stuff which is a shame because for a white boy he's go a lot of soul :-)

    BRILLIANT live!
