  • OMG - they are so cool. I thought all they did was the "who cooks for you all" sound. I just heard them in the woods for the first time making that squeeking sound - I thought it was a different animal. It was very loud and sounded almost like a cat/dog.

  • They make lots of different sounds.

They start making noise before they hatch.

They visited Thursday night and sang a hoot I call, 'this is my territory' It is a low repetitive hoot.

My first encounter, about 16 years ago, It said a single 'who' elongated into a whooooooooooo. We call it the inquisitive who.

  • Oh yeah...

  • Thats strange because most owls sleep in day

  • These videos were shot with night vision cameras, at night. The owls don't sleep all day, it's more like cat napping.

  • Is that actually what they sound like?

  • Yes they make all kinds of strange sounds. We love them.

  • they seem to know what they're doing, i wouldn't be criticize them for being quiet.

  • They're both so quiet about it. Perhaps greathorns were in the neighborhood?
