  • Did Slide Fire send you any AK stocks? Perhaps that will function better than standard bump firing.

  • I'm sure your asked this all the time. If you could only take one rifle with you when you bug out, which rifle would it be??

  • Bump-firing from the shoulder?! Impressive.

  • You're a very good shot mate, not to be rude but you must have been unreal in your 30's.

  • Great videos hickok! Keep em comin..Does anyone know the best makers of this gun, I've been looking around and there are so many variations that I'm not sure which to go with..I've seen em pretty cheap and thought no way I can get one of these for 5 6 hundred bucks...Please any advice would help

  • @jayslowiak Go check out AtlanticFirearms. They offer both the best available and a really good bargain rifle. If you are looking for the best you can get, look for the Arsenal SGL-31. They have crome-lined, hammer forged barrels and really good K-Var synthetic furniture. They are a little pricey at $835, but are fantastic rifles built under tight tolerances.

If you are looking for something really good, look at the IAC and WaffenWorks AK74's. They both offer crome-lined......

  • @mogar *continued* barrels and similar furniture. They can be had for $600 and $650 respectively. Both really good rifles in their own right. Unfortunately, the Century Arms Bulgarian AK-74 that Hickok45 is shooting (that I also own) is rather hard to find, but is a good buy if you find one.

Anyway, Atlantic is a very good company with VERY good customer service. Have no fear ordering from them as they are quite reputable. They also carry 5.45x39 for a good price as well!!

  • good shootin frm jamaica

  • If Hickok woulda been shootin my Arsenal he woulda never missed! Them Century Arms builds are J-U-N-K!

  • Have you ever shot any of the German AK-47 plastic core ammo... Lite recoil.. and fun to shoot... I'd like to shoot the AK-74, someday...

  • I FINALLY got my Arsenal SGL 31-62 (Plum Furniture) and a dozen or so PLUM Izhmash 30-rnd steel reinforced mags and MAN I LOVE THIS 5.45!! And I'm glad I finally have a -47(SGL 21-71) style AND a -74 (SGL 31-62) style, really, REALLY like this firearm/CARTRIDGE combo.... NO RECOIL, my 10yr old nephew's first centerfire semi rifle to shoot will be my -74! Great vid, as usual, need to go get a case, or two, of 5.45x39.5mm!

  • I am guessing that this video will lead to 1000+ Ak--74 sales. Good job, Hickok45

  • I would win you

  • намеренно стреляет мимо цели,в одну точку.

  • @kurlykinaak Looks like it to me also.

  • how much more accurate is the 74 compared to the 47?

  • @marineboy1911

depends on what range your shooting at. within 200yd or so you shouldn't see much of a difference. but past the 200yd mark the 7.62 fired by the 47 starts to drop noticeably more than the smaller cartridges like the 5.45 (ak74) and the 5.56 (ar15).

  • I want one!

  • I sure do like that AK-74. I am just amazed that you were able to see those targets down range. I was not able to see them until John zoomed in on them. Cool vid on the AK-74 and very nice shooting.

  • High, and left I think.

  • Ruger should hurry up and make a Mini 5.45...

  • Looked like you were shooting left of the targets, just needed some zeroing. The bullets seemed to hit pretty much the same area every time.

  • I wasn't fooled, it sais its an ak 74 in the title. lol ;P

  • It is very fast shooting professor with AK74 and AK47 it awsame for even hunting.

  • Вот мужик касой ))

  • How do youlike that shoulder holster for yur 1911? Ive been thinking bout getting one like that.

  • lol being modest. you hit the same spot, high, over and over and over. I think the gun can actually take a part of the blame on this one

  • Jesus fuck.

    AK-47 uses 7.62x39

    AK-74 uses 5.45x39

    There.

  • Jesus fuck.

    AK-47 uses 7.62x39

    AK-74 uses 5.45x39

    There.

  • it uses the 5.56x39

  • @da13nb its 5.45x39

  • is uses the same cartridge as an AK-47?

  • @7150285 i dont think so the ak-47 uses the 7.62 x something. but i am not sure

  • @7150285 AK-47 - 7.62x39mm

    AK-74 - 5.45x39mm

  • @7150285 No it uses a cartridge closer to the AR-15

  • I got a Arsenal SGL-31 AK-74. Built at the Izhmash plant in Russia and finished by Arsenal in Las Vegas. There are lots of AK's but the Arsenal AK-74's are the real deal.

  • What kind of stock are you running? I am tall like you, over six feet, and the Warsaw pact length is too short for me. I cant get a proper cheek weld without hitting myself in the jaw... I know Ironwood designs makes a NATO plus one inch stock, I was looking at those. Is that the "stock" stock?

  • can u be my grandpa?

  • @yakuzachin88 everyone is wishing that mate hahah get in the line please¡¡ :)

  • @ferromerocolt44 sure mate :-)

  • Where else but the USA can you do this? Try this in some of obozos favorite countries (like china or cuber) and you get dead in a hurry.

  • Thanks for the 'honest' video. All of us have days where not every round hits and not every round of ammo is equal. This was an excellent review! Thanks! BTW.....even with the 'misses' your groups were pretty tight for iron sights. Just a touch high is all. Thanks!

  • I recently had my own AK-74 built using Bulgarian parts on a Nodak receiver. I'm a hard core AK fan and I've been very pleased with the AK74 type as well.

  • Best gun in the world.

  • ★★★★★

  • Hickok believe me, take a look at the saigas models, you won't be disappointed

  • i wish i was your son

  • I <3 5.45x39!

And 7.62x54... You should do a video featuring a gun that shoots that cool rimmed Russian cartridge other than the Mosin (SVD maybe)

  • @t3super60W I love the mosin! - where else can you get a great deer gun for less than 150 bucks- just make sure you check the bore before you buy- some of them are almost smoothbore!

  • @benjamineby

Definitely.. My first rifle was a 91/30 from 1943 and it will always have a special place in my heart. Paid 110 bucks for it too and it is a very cool gun. However, hickok already reviewed the Mosin in a couple of videos.

  • I'm not gonna lie, I saw AK-47

I still saw it until you mentioned it was a 74

I gotta get back to the books haven't I? XD

  • WE WANT COMPOUND T-Shirts!!!

  • I don't care about the marksmanship. I just enjoy watching him shoot.

  • bc of this video im now reading soft target by stephen hunter and so far im loving it! reminds me of that cod mission everyone got so up tight about

  • Hickok, i think you would appreciate installing krebs custom peep sights on your ak rifle because i understand you really cant see the sights good because they are so far forward and i think that it would be a major improvement for you, for example nutnfancy (if you know him) was once an ak hater but when he purchased the peep sights he was amazed at how accurate his ak was, and it was an ak-47! he was getting 1 inch groups at a reasonable range. you could also make a review on them to!

  • Hickok, I can't eat cheese or drink milk it makes me sick.

  • ????/ wheres all ur targets at!!!

  • Comment removed

  • In 100 years they are going to mine your place for lead!! awesome shooting!

  • @103Buckeye you mean "copper" instead of lead..?

  • I have found I have quite a few light primer strikes with my ak74 when compared to my other guns. Makes me wonder is it the primer or just weak hammer springs?

  • i love AK74 nd You sir .

  • Bump firing at 10:19

  • That's the same rifle have. Except I painted mine

  • The weapon did not jam, it was just amazed how well Hickok shoots and had to take a deep breath before it continued doing its work.

  • Watch closely, his groups are pretty precise (in same impact area) just not accurate (not hitting target. It could be bc his sights are off; see how most shots are to the left and in very close proximity to each other. Or bc he couldn't see targets well, when camera is zoomed out, you can see how well those metals blend in

  • The sights are clearly off! all the misses are in the exact same place! It's not, the shooter, but the gun!

  • Это не ак-74 а подделка болгарская или китайская!!! если тестировать Калашников то брать надо Российский а не болгарское говно

  • most of his misses were in a small grouping, i just think he couldn't see the targets.

  • amazing !

  • Hickok you are one of the best shooters here on YT, if not the best. Let people say what ever they want but it doesn't mean anything, they are just mad they can't be doing the same. I suggest trying that AK with an optic. I love AKs and they are by far my favorite rifle, but the sights are bad for distances, but hey that's why we have optics :)

  • I didn't read the comments of people hating on his aim, but I think it says something about the man that he is willing to put up a video regardless of how well he is shooting.

  • I've personally witnessed hickok shooting mosquito's balls off in flight at 230 yards with a handgun.

    Thanks for another amazing video!!!

    Haters get lost!

  • man im sorry but u cant beat an ak47

  • @sgthl I always thought the same until I got a rifle with 5R rifling. I was shocked when it would stack the first two then start opening up. I cleaned the bore back to bare metal and fired another group. This time it stacked the first 3 and slowly opened up over the next 3. 20 rounds later it was starting to stack 5. I've not tried it again to see if there has been further improvment, but it did show me that there might be something to break-in in some situaitons.

  • @Refaim08 I agree. And there is plenty of test out there that show improvement in accuracy and longevity with proper break in. I was just wondering what Hickok had to say on the matter.

  • why does the range look so different?

  • @TeoDucky its because he is further up the hill.

  • OMG Hickok can not pick up any gun and be automatically a sniper with it. Subscription canceled!!! /sarcasm.

Hickok don't worry about it, Sir, you're still learning the gun. Doesn't help that the default century stock offers pretty piss poor ergos. With a little bit of familiarization you'll be golden in no time.

  • Question, just finished watching this last video and was wondering why ur spotter isn't telling where you are hitting couple of times you pretty ask where urhitting with nothing but crickets playing from behind the camera. At 1 time ur shaving your rounds with the top of the target and can understand why you weren't able to see them but the cameraman had a clear view of exactly where ur at. AK & u were accurate just not precise. The cameraman could have spotted you some kentucky windage tho

  • Another great video

  • Its shooting low and to the left.

  • I don't see how he was hitting those gray colored little targets from that far away in the first place, I wouldn't have been able to distinguish them from the ground.

  • please do AEK-971, 972 or 973

  • @volkmaestro you can't get those in the states...

  • @volkmaestro never :DD

  • @volkmaestro Aren't those accessible only to russian special forces?

  • @volkmaestro I'm sure he would if you could even get one in the United States.

  • @volkmaestro Too bad those are just about impossible to find.

  • @volkmaestro Is that legal to own?

  • @M95toDAhead Here in Russia even AK is illegal for civilians. I just know nothing about law in US but if AK is legal why AEK is not. They are same type of firearm.

  • @volkmaestro American law works something like this: SCARY GUN!!! BAN IT! BAN IT! BAN IT! BAN IT!

    or:

Shut up, citizen, only the feds and criminals can own firearms.

  • @volkmaestro "AK" is illegal for civilians most everywhere... but versions with full auto either disabled or never built in are mostly allowed. I only have a 7.62x39 romanian civilian AK version... 5.45x39 is hard to come by in Finland while 7.62 is plentiful and cheap.

  • @volkmaestro Those are prototypes that never hit market. You cant buy them or even find an original really.

  • @RadicalApex Not prototypes but hard to find. During early 2000s small batches of AEK-971 rifles were manufactured for Russian MVD (internal affairs ministry) troops, but its production has ceased in 2006. Considering our (Russian) laws, it would be easier to get one in US or anywhere on earth, but not in Russia.

  • @volkmaestro I don't think that's possible buddy

  • Is it kinda odd to see the picture warp when he takes the shots? Looks like the blast is kinda strong or it's the muzzle flash.

  • i love when he says life is good he sounds so sincere and profound.

  • next AEK-971 plz AK´s are sick guns

  • I don't think people realize how hard these hits are to make happen...

  • The sight was off, you can see him hitting the same area whenever he misses.

  • hey hickok, you did videos both on the AK-47 & AK-74 so how about one on the AN-94 ?

  • @killamatt17 Highly doubt it. AN-94 isn't used even by the Russian army, apart from maybe few Special Forces units. Even that is a speculation. Russians still favour AK-74 platform as their main assault rifle. Although, its been told that a new rifle is being built by Izmash.

  • The rilfe does seem to print a bit left. You shot some tight groups just left of the targets you missed. Might also be the late sun on the right side of the front sight of the rifle.

  • @faniesmith Yes, the grouping did seem tight but off. Looked like he was digging a neat little hole. Maybe he was. he is known to use firearms as farming tools, lol. I would check the sights as well since the grouping was so consistent.

  • Thank you ....Your the man

  • As great as Hickok shoots, with every gun he picks up, for him to have an off day or to have issues with one gun, noone should be criticizing him at all...It's not like any of You have proven to shoot better...

  • @salembadass not only that, he's missing cuz the sights are off, not because he's tired or getting sloppy. you can see that b/c when he misses it hits the same patch of dirt repeatedly

  • Very much agree! he is shooting distance at small, low and blended targets. Further more listen to the wind! Need I mention he never blamed the rifle, true professional! Good on Hickok45 for putting this video.

  • @salembadass yeah, he has a good time, and btw i saw him shooting a desert eagle at 230 yards, extremely impressive!

  • Maybe because when some of us shoot in 3 gun the last thing on our mind is filming ourselves in competition. Also, maybe some of us don’t have all the time in the world to film video after video in attempt to make an internet sensation of ourselves. Nothing against Hickoc, I actually like some of his videos. But if you’re going to put yourself out there to be seen by all, be prepared to be judged by those who shoot competitively. And what’s with the shoulder holster? 4 looks? lmao

  • @rem1911a1 Wtf did you even attempt to just say?

  • @rem1911a1 he is shooting 100yards plus with iron sights on a gun he barely uses free hand show some respect you probably shoot 50 yards off a bench with a 40x scope

  • @salembadass not to mention ak47's and 74's aren't exactly known for accuracy

  • Thanks for doing a bit of bump firing for us hickok.

  • in Modern Warfare 2, the Russian Army are depicted carrying a "modernised" AK-47, instead of this AK74 which is the correct gun.

  • The gun is borrowed ( underscored ), iron sights, targets barely visible and every bullet - if missing - goes just a tad high ... those who criticize should give it a try....with a borrowed gun!! This was excellent shooting, ladies and gents!!!

  • @FirecloudNine Well said, too many trolls sitting behind their keyboards criticizing hollowly. If you wanna talk crap, post a video showing you are better shot, until then SHUT UP or compliment the man. Hickok is a better shot than most humans, he's probably seen more lead and variety fly than some nations' militaries.

  • More misses just means we get to see you shoot that rifle longer :). Thanks for making another AK74 video, one of my favorite guns.

  • High left, high left, high left, high left, high left is where you're hitting Hickok ^.^

  • I would love to see you get one of those SSAK-47 bumpfire stocks for this rifle.

  • phew, there is one gun that would give me a small, very small chance that i might get away if running in a seriously zig zag or drunken state. its a testament to your honesty that you post this vid. much appreciated hickock coz hey, the last fox i shot at had two near misses only to get nailed by my buddy. it makes me feel better that even the best can have a miss or two....or three lol .

cheers hickock, love your work, you can come to my place in western australia and hang out anytime.

    thanx

  • What happened to the range????

  • painful

  • @hickok45 glad to see you with an ak again! I remember the first video I saw ak47 vs lawnmower, made me subscribe and now I have bought 4 guns youve done reviews on.

  • My welding teacher just takes about your channel. He likes your videos. Ps I got a glock 17 3rd gen on layaway. Stocking ammo for it right now. Good luck shooting

  • Mr. Hickok, Maybe full auto may help today, either way love watching your channel..

  • The main difference between the AK47 and the AK74 is the caliber type. The 47 uses a 7.62x39 while the 74 uses a 5.45x39 caliber bullet. The click you hear after every round is the Triger Reset.

  • you went right to left and not left to right! bad luck you said your self

  • I always look forward to your new videos Greg. This one like all the others I watched, did not disappoint. Keep up the good work. Also, I have a request if possible, could you do a video with a S&W Sigma 40VE? I'd like to get your opinion on the long trigger pull. I own one and I'm still getting used to it after taking it to the range a few times. Maybe you could give me some pointers.

  • I like to zero my AKs before I shoot them, most AK owners don't use the sights, they just bump fire and shoot dirt.

  • how do you fix when your limp-wristing cause it feel like im griping the pistol hard and im still mssing the target :(

  • whats the diffrence between ak 74 and ak47 are those just the same? i had this question for awhile

  • why was there a click about 1 second after every shot

  • @planAskater12 Trigger reset.

  • @planAskater12

That's the trigger resetting. After each shot for best accuracy it is best to maintain pressure on the trigger, known as follow-through. It aids in preventing unwanted movement prior to the shot breaking.

  • @Myrmidon26 I think the click he's talking about is the sound of the casing hitting the leaf covered ground =]

  • I know you are left eye dominant and shoot right handed with a pistol, but do you also shoot with your left eye when firing a rifle?

  • It looks like he's got windage off a little, or maybe something else like his cheek or shoulder. They were all in good groups! Just not on target.

  • his group is pretty impressive, even if it was dirt. he's a great shot he just can't see where the bullets are landing. I'm sure if he knew they were all high, he would be plinking every time

  • LIKE IF YOU NEVER WATCHED ONE OF HIS VIDEOS FROM BEGGING TO END.

  • nice video!!! but next time try a bazooka to hit the targets!!! hehehehhehe

    excellent explanation!!! I just subscribed!!!

  • Hey we all have our bad days I know sometimes i just cant seem to hit anything others i cant miss

  • @TheOJackuVulu in some states you can legally purchase a fully automatic firearm if you can pass the background check. its a fairly involved process. the gun has to be registered with the atf, there is a full background check done on you, you have to pay a fee for a tax stamp and you have to have your local head of law enforcement (chief/sheriff).

  • @1979aerocaprice and you have to have your local head of law enforcement (chief/sheriff) sign off on the paperwork and allow you to have it.

  • A question about concealed. When someone shows their concealed weapon on youtube, can authorities claim that the person is brandishing or advertising their concealment? Kind of a lawyer type thing, but it is worth discussing in the right forum. I want to do gun videos and was wondering if the subject has ever come up. Thank You. R n' R.

  • How does one "bump fire"? Never heard that phrase.

  • Terrible lighting conditions for shooting with all the shadows and the dark targets. Thank's for showing how you deal with it in this video.

  • The targets needed to be painted darker. I don't even know how he see's those.

  • @ckk1106 And how exactly do you paint them darker than black?

  • @1979aerocaprice If you watch the video you'll see that the targets, other than the gong are very light. Hickok even says in the video that he should have painted the targets before the video because he is having a hard time seeing them.

  • 5 5 5 Video, cool Mr. Hickok 45 :D

  • I've never seen so many misses by Hickok. Is this a joke?

  • Those are some tactical mag pouches you've got there

  • How far is your range?

  • As long as you don't end on a miss your ok with me hickok45 LIFE IS GOOD

  • I don't think anyone would mind if you could figure out how to get John to spot for you.

  • @Spacecoastz Or hand signals possibly.

  • Hickok, John has a pretty good spotters view through that camera utilize that by coming up with some simple hand signals to find out where the rounds are hitting.

  • what amazes me is hickok has about the same accuracy with his handguns as he does his rifles

  • When you miss, at least it's highly precise

  • @0O00OO0O00OO0O00OO Yeah a lot of his shots were going in the same spots, they were just the wrong spots. I think he was having a lot of trouble seeing well at that distance, I know I would. He's a great shot, but that doesn't do any good if you can't see your target...

  • I have an AK74 with the same receiver, I've had a problem with it recently where almost every round stovepipes after firing, what I broke it down to is that after putting a (required) USA made gas piston in it the casing ejecting pattern changed and that now I must cut open my dust cover a little more.

  • @niftycanoffree Makes me feel grateful I've got an Arsenal.

  • @TheOJackuVulu No they are not, hickok45 has several of them.

    This rifle, however, is semi-auto.

  • @Nix6p he does not have several of them, he said in all of the full auto videos that they are on loan. he said that he use to own an uzi in the 1980s but no longer does. dont be so quick to tell people things that are false. its also not completely legal to own a full auto firearm. only some states allow it and there is a lot of paperwork involved, plus registration with the atf and a tax stamp.

  • If I am not mistaken isnt the AK 74 bullet also called the poison bullet???

  • @Rawdog550 Indeed it is. Very lethal like poison.

  • @6969shutup He has 2.
