A lot of misinformed people making comments about that of which they know nothing. Nice sets! I do have to agree with some though, the music bites, but to each his own I guess. Hope this season is a boomer for you!
Alaska dept of Fish & Game regulate salmon fishing strictly.. nets are only allowed in the water when they are confident they are getting a certain amount of escapement upriver, and as they monitor it, if they aren't getting the proper escapement fishing is suspended. Looks shocking like this, but literally millions of fish escape up each of the major rivers even with fishing going on. hard to imagine how many fish are out there until you see it in person for yourself. different way of life.
Yea I fished on the coast last year with steve Peterson on the Maren E. Mostly Noyes and a few days at Dall. a lot different from that fair weather fishing. I have a video of that on my facebook. It's called The Machine search for Jason Cochran on face book if you want to see it.
Meehhhh....what 60 thou?? Negro dogs, Still 40 cents a pound though, haha, try fishing the coast son, Pt Security and Cornwalis.. Getting 100 gs plus, Ocean Brights...And yeah, to that whiney little nancy of a canadian... Thats where we catch your Sockeye at that try going up the Frasier river.. haha, yeauh EMILY NICOLE sucka Canuckian, go seine a lake or something.
your all missenformed these are all canadian salmon trying to return to bc rivers and steams and these yankees are just raping them like mad. fuck you yankees
hahahahah are u kidding me? u don't treat these fishes like they do here, u never caught salmons in these net and let them suffer for their lifes, u fucking moron, i work with fishcare here in sweden, u catch salmon in traps and handle with them carefully, and then u milk them. correct me if i'm wrong but just saw the news and they are missing 6 millions pink salmons in northamericans rivers this year, i wonder where they are.....
ever heard those biologist might have fucked up a number or two like all scientists do so many factors to consider you dont even realize we got our shit under control god put them on this earth to be fucking harvested not put in traps and milked you got to be kidding me
you two are very missinformed, alaska has the best managed fisheries in the world.these fish being caught will be sold to fund the hatchery,so the return of salmon will allways continue.and by the way if you think your tough enough come on up and call us fuckin idiots to our faces.
Ya, I saw you guys earlier this year. I've done the Hidden Falls cost recovery 2 years, and rolling those sets is pretty bad ass. Check my video, it's of a cost recovery deckload.
but yes Skiffman 5889 and littlegoobie ur both right back three years ago was crazy but unfortunetly our fisheries were jacked up they started a Combine where about 20 boats all pooled in there money at the end and all spilt costs and it was just a joke we cought over 300 thousand pnds of reds that year and i walked out with only 7 k so needless to say that never happened again.. but i think this summer is gonna be a good one.. im excited! alright talk to you all later!
11jNewman11 shut the fuck up if you know any thing about Alaska fishing is that its numbers in salmon is growing every year. so shove ur gay comment up Ur ass. oh ya nice set mad props on the vid
not only that, the commercial salmon fisheries across the entire state are almost exclusively hatchery born (released to mature at sea), so it's totally manageable harvest. most types of huggers live in a cloud of ignorance and see with tunnel vision.
eh i dunno if salmon fisheries are doin that great right now.. kodiak was shut down like all this last summer, around chignik area where i seine were having worst catch almost on record i mean crew shares are like 12-15 grand now on a good year where they used to b 40-50k on Average ... prince williams sound had a decent year for picks but thats the only place i rly know of... but im not tryin to argue im just expressing my thoughts.. good fishing to ya all
Yeah Kodiak and Southeast are both having problems, but the sound is kicking ass. And seriously 40-50k crew shares are usually a common thing. They happened in the 80's and then it's starting to happen again, but who know's how long the price will hold. lol, I do know I paid my crewmen a ton this year. haha later
fishing is fishing though and that's the nature of it. Yeah, last season there were closures or limited openers in some areas but most places still did okay. Low returns can occur any year for any reason. You probalby also remember back 3 (?) years ago when there were record returns of fish. Just one slow year shouldn't make anybody jump to any kind regarding the health of the fisheries in following years.
It definitely wasn't a slow year, PWSAC took way less for cost recovery which meant that we actually had a chance at the fish. The biggest problem in the sound, hands down, has to do with marketing. And right now there is a HUGE problem coming out- we're letting people go right around our limited entry program and without limited entry we're done. Where are you fishing anyway?
People shouldn't open their moths when they have no idea what they're talking about. Alaska has well managed, healthy fisheries. Go hug a tree, fuckers.
Thats because its a Hatchery not a farm. Hatcheries raise the fish untill they are fry and then they release them into the wild. They come back 2-3 years later and then we catch some of them for the hatchery, its called cost recovery. Thats how the hatchery makes alot of its money. Then the left over fish... I better stop it is probaly getting a little confusing for you since you are a retard.
i dont think they should die but seriously rethink what they are doing it's not just money that comes up its several thousands generations of salmon that your picking up
The Salmon in Alaska are the most regulated fish on the planet. They give us certain days to fish, after there has been enough escapement of fish into the creeks. And those scenes that you people are commenting about are all hatchery fish, we catch them for the hatchery so they can make money to support themselves so they can produce more salmon. You people should learn about things before you are to quick to judge. We feed the world BITCH's
@kimlarsson You must be a complete idiot, commercial fishing is not overfishing. You can only fish for so long, antcipating when seasons starts and seasons end. Its not as if they do it for the hell of it, its a living and its probably the greatest source of uncontaminated meat without growth hormones and so on.
I happen to be heading up to alaska this new year with my brother and dad for 6 months as our jobs.
you see white man do you see the greed in your eyes you want it all and you say native people are greedy your wrong you guys are killing all the salomon fuckers
This looks like it's a cost recovery operation by NSARAA or Northern Southeastern Alaska Regional Auguaculture Association. For those dimwits that think Alaska salmon are going exctinct, it's operations like this that keep them strong and alive. This is what's called a terminal hatchery fishery program. they release juvie salmon and they return to this exact location in 4 years with no place to go to spawn. That's why the F/V Pillar Bay is pulling in 100,000 pounds a day.
I dont know if I buy they they will plug up the rivers crap. why werent they all extinct before man with a net came along if thats your theroy please explain why there are fish now. I am a fisherman myself and love to fish for salmon but I dont think net fishing them is the right way to do it and conserve the resource. nets cant tell what river those fish are from or what state you could kill a whole rivers return in one net set
yo why man, watch in 20 years theres gonna be nothin left for you people to fish for. And i'm gonna laugh at u people that make a living off netting salmon and other fish. Quite frankly all u peapl that fish with nets can go F*CK yourself in the ass
hey bambam thanks for the comment. Just to let you know that there is an very huge supply of fish in Alaska. If we didn't catch them they would clog up all the streams and they would all die. We also work for the hatcherys to insure future runs. You should research it before you are so quick to judge
