Religion is poison. Some religions are harsh as is the case with poisons. Some religions are more beneign. As is the case of poison. Poison is toxic and the toxicity levels vary from poison to poison as well as molarity of substance. How much poison in what concentration is harmless? The world would be a better place without religion. Lets not let them get away with saying they are not hurting people or actually helping them.

Christendom is filled with so many more examples of inhumanity that are accepted by otherwise civilized individuals simply because of their religion.

That is sick and disturbing on so many levels. Aside from the physical and emotional suffering that a child would receive from the beatings, every person who I know that was abused like this, and make no mistake, this is ABUSE, has serious pyschological issues later on in life. The irony is that some of these fundamentalists dare to say that their god gave us free will. What's the point of having it if it (apparently) has to be beaten out of us? You'd almost say that their god just loves to torture people. And still people would worship him.
