ONE THING IS FOR SURE......ANY GOVERNMENT THAT MENTIONS 'CLIMATE CHANGE'....ETS....CARBON TAX....SUPER MINING TAX.....will self destruct and it's very clear now, the above mentioned is pure poison!
See that Wayne Swan skips over how they were to going to increase mining tax. People work hard and long hours in those mines. All are welcome to try but i think putting 30% tax on it is ridiculous. Without Western Australia's billion dollar natural resources contracts with China, the country would not be in it's financial state today. Shame on you Swarny!
The ores are a finite resource, and are an assett of the Australian nation. Mining companies from China, US, Canada, and Britain are getting our ore dirt cheap. It is not their ore. They are making a fortune, it won't last, the Australian nation should be getting paid for its own resource, not funding the greed of multi-national miners. You guys are completely sucked in by their massively financed PR propaganda campaign. You are paying robbers to steal from you - curious.
@chitchant - The media focus has just gone berserk. Finally, Rudd says how it is to O'Brien - most obstructionist Senate in 35 years stopping the political process - and the press are all over it a la Latham. What absolute rot. An Abbott govt would be disaster fro the PEOPLE of Australia, it would only serve the interests of the corporates and multinationals. Forget the burqua, what about every female having to wear a chastity belt from the age of 13?
Little Johnie Howard's hand-picked lickspittles on the ABC board are really earning their Private Club memberships this year.
Where is the critique of the most obstructiionist Senate in 35 years? None - all we hear is how little has been achieved, copied in toto from the neo-cons who ply this pathetic trade in the US.
The ONLY thing I don't like about the ABC coverage of Budget 2010 is the avalanche (I'm over tsunamis) of opportunities given to the opposition for their negative projectile vomiting. ABC has invited their vitriolic responses even before it was brought down.

Rudd always was a dud.

But the Big Miners have the money and the power.
So what if we give away our national mineral treasure to countries such as the US and China. We do anything to keep them happy.
RioTinto, Billeton and FMG do not believe in democaracy, that's just SOCIALISM!
Money for the elite few, poverty for the masses. Just gotta keep them ignorant - all with help of the Australia hysteric media (including ABC).

You realise this video is brought to you by the ABC?
So your saying the group that brought you the news on resources sales are not giving you news on the resources sales?
