It could also be because they were thrown out of the hands and this can disorientate them! A professional bird handler would always advise the B&G to simply open their hands not throw the poor birds into the air!
Cannot tell for sure as the birds are not still for long enough, but they look like garden doves to me - or at least cross bread garden dove/rock dove. If so its no surprise they didnt fly off!
i agree i run a pure white dove (homing) relese business and this relly should not happen!
the birds are ither to young to tame or the wrong breed, please if your going to release doves at your wedding or special ocasion hire someone who knows what they are doing and who has the right birds, afterall whould you ask yor mechanic to cut your hair!!!
They must have been hand fed babies. Mine land on my head all the time. Just look at my video for the second flight. That's funny though. Pidgies/Doves are so cute.
actualy these birds are white homing pigeons!! there is no such thing as real realese doves becouse the doves get lost and die, but homers will come back home were they were born unharmed
but, seriously, those birds were probably caged all their life and that's the first time they ever had the opportunity to fly so it's not surprising they would land on the first thing they see - a head.
Yeah, that's why I don't want doves at my wedding. They might leave bird poop while flying over someone's head. Scary

Another reason to always hire a professional release company. These young pigeons (rock doves) act like babies that have never flown before.

No, I think those were actually doves (not rock doves=pigeons). Short flight, near the ground is more characteristic of doves.
Though they do look large for doves, don't they?
I do hope someone took them home.

Are these white ring neck doves? This behavior is very unusual even for a ring neck. The photographer must be blessed!
