  • The R16 record in mono?

  • @VVS3 Yes or you can "pair up inputs" to make them stereo and then map that back onto a single track as a stereo for each of the 8 tracks (hence R16). I made it sound complicated just then (youtube comment word limit) but it really isn't and the manual is brilliantly easy. Great devices. You should try them.

  • Does it work in Pro Tools LE 8.0/9?

  • @JeppeRaskDK yes, as a mackie control surface too.

  • @TableWolfMusic Do you have a link? Cause i can't figure out how to make it work. I've sent Zoom an email, but they didn't seem to reply. It doesn't say at their website, whether it works in pro tools 8,9 or 10. They only talk about Cubase, which i have - but don't want to use. What can you suggest?

  • @JeppeRaskDK In any software that supports mackie control surfaces I think you need to select the zoomR16 as such. So, in cubase you would have chosen this unless it was a default. There is a channel on youtube called ProAudioDVDs whereby the presenter shows you how to do it in cubase and I'm pretty sure the same method (in principle) applies to any software that supports mackie control surface.

I think this youtube link for the cubase version...

  • hi, i am looking to buy one of the r16's and i was wondering if there are eq, compression, etc tools on board. im mainly looking at it for drum covers and stuff.

    Thanks :)

  • @fordshop11 It does all of that. Excellent for drums, especially those phantom power mic inputs form a matched pair of overhead condensor mics when recording your cymbals.

  • does it record in just loose tracks (i mean: track 1 is one file. track 2 is one file. [in SD mode])?

  • It is an 8 in, 2 out interface. So no, you can't record 8 tracks at once to a DAW using it as an interface. Only 2. You can however record 8 individual tracks to the unit and simply drop them into your DAW. this is the way I record my drums with excellent results.

  • @triplettim I'm sure you can. Just watch the video. You can record up to eight tracks simultaniously in cubase le4.

  • Can someone explain clearly if this thing can record 8 separate tracks simultaneously into a daw and have each track seperately masterable? Much appreciation

  • @Felderoth Yes it can record 8 tracks simultaneoulsy into DAW. It does this in 44.1khz, just as it does on the SD card standalone mode. The "two track out" mode is for when you wish to record in 96khz. Frankly, the quality at 44.1khz is amazing and so I'd doubt you'd notice the difference. By the way, you can link two of them together to record 16 tracks.

  • I have one and use it through cubase 4le. When i use the interface it records to computer and gives me the tracks i have mics through but they are all the same track. I want kick drum on one track, snare on another, guitar on another..etc. When i try to do it i get 8 identical tracks. Any tips to get seperate mics on there respective tracks through interface?

  • I know Pro Tools 9 can now use some third-party interfaces. Does this include the R16?

  • When it is used as a interface with cubase can you record 8 separate tracks? for example a drumset, can I record separate bass drum, snare, toms etc?

  • Can you synk MIDI thru USB ?

  • @Russ88765

i comes with ac adapter and yes you can link 2 systems together but hey they just released a new version of this console check it out. samson is the best!

  • now if this product had moterized faders i would buy it. thats the only downside to me, cant really use it as a control surface if u cant bank through the faders

  • does it work as a live mixer for a band?

  • The song in the background is pretty bad ass :O is it a song or just a demo from the R16 ??

  • Can you record using EQ? Can you use the pan function whilst recording so you can have stereo monitoring whilst recording a band - i.e. pan one guitar left, one guitar right?

  • @jontheid

    yes

  • ok here's a question... can you record 8 tracks simultaneously, THEN export each individual track to a DAW later?!? Basically is each track it's own file, or are the tracks combined to make one large file?

  • @bigkilla724 - I went to buy it today - $399 (Tennessee) the seller told me it would record 8 tracks, but you will need a SD card with no less than 16 GB - the one provided is 1 GB. Let's see...

  • each track is an independent WAV file.

  • @bigkilla724 The tracks are not combined. Just load them into your favorite DAW

  • @bigkilla724

    individual

  • i wonder how low the latency would be with it? i am thinnking about buying it, but i dont know since you can only record all 8 tracks at 44.1khz/16-bit... well what could i expect for 400 bucks... but if it uses low latency asio drivers and such i will consider it more... anyone have any experiences with it?

  • will this work on Pro Tools LE 7.3 or latest?

  • @Funkiztah420 absolutly not. The onyl way to get sound into pro tools ios using Digidesign. period.

thank your local Digi Rep for that

  • @spiralaeon not really, you can always import .wav and midi from other DAW's, like if you were to have the digi micro

  • @kylebsmoketrees No you have to. when you instal pro tools You can't even instal it ithout having a digidesign made piece of hardware connected. it will shut down and log out.

  • @kylebsmoketrees

keyword IF YOU HAD THE DIGI MICRO PRO TOOLS WILL NOT OPEN UNLESS OYU HAVE DIGI DEVIES HOOKED TO YOUR COMPUTER

  • @spiralaeon or get the cracked version.

  • @spiralaeon or get the cracked version. im using pro tools HD & my xio synth on a mac.

  • Well... There is an AC adapter and you can link two together. Watch the Gear Wire Reviews.

    Cheers

  • Yes, you can link two R16's together with a USB cable!

  • @samsontech Please release some linux drivers for the zoomr16 (& zoomr24). Other manufacturers are doing it for their products. You're still selling the zoomr16 & have released, for example, windows7 drivers after only winxp, and win vista were included on the cdrom (along with mac os x). That was nice of you so please, search online at how many people (such as ubuntu studio) are desperately trying to get the zoomr16 to work in linux. Dell Laptops ship with ubuntu. Take your customers seriously.

  • Es un excelente producto, comprobado. Tanto como multitrack, como interface, de verdad que vale la pena!
