There was a disagreement between Ruth and her sisters, and she left the group...created her own group, The Ruth Davis Singers, and recorded an album with them on Savoy in the early 1960's. Isaac Douglas was a member of her group, and actually leads a song on their album.

I don't think it was a solo album....whenever artists who were on the Savoy label would pass away, Savoy would release an album "In Memory Of..." etc for them...and many times it featured the solo selections that they did. There's an album like that for Rosetta Tharpe, Clara Ward, and Roberta Martin, as well as others.
that picture is from the "Ruth Davis Memorial Album" my church chartered a bus for the funeral of Baby SIS,back in 1970, child u should have seen that funeral! CLARA and MOTHER WARD! turned it OUT! they sent ruth on to glory with a first rate send-off!, yes lord! i"ll never forget that cold philadelphia morning. the place was packed, i was just sitting there thinking of how that gal use to sing "He"ll Understand" whew! hmmm..i get chills just thinking about it.
baby all i remember....i believe they lived in a part of philly called germantown. i met baby sis back in the 50s, and continued a warm friendship with her up until her untimely death. haha, i never went to church with her,,just went to churches she went to, to sing...but i can tell u, it was so sad to see her in the final days before she passed, i visited her in the hospital, and she was so small! this was just before she passed, i believe it was around the 1st of the year, because it was cold
I know of Bill Moss & the Celestials, but I don't have any of their music. You may be able to find their stuff on eBay, as well as many of the smaller (Christian) record shops.
As far as the Davis Sisters, you can find a bit of their stuff on several of the music sites. You can also find their stuff on eBay also, like old vinyl, etc.
