Thrilled to discover this gem, especially since it includes my voice introducing curtis mayfield at the Congressional Black Caucus concert at the Capitol Centre back in 1974! What an honor, as Curtis remains one of my all time favorites and this was a spine tingling experience to share the stage with this amazing legend!!! Thank you for posting. Dyana
Yeah I agree...I used to get mad and disappointed at the so-called 'artists' who were prostituting themselves out for the sonic pimps at record companies etc...but now I've got one finger pointing at the 'entertainers' (that's about all most of them are these daze...and not so good at that...running around the stage grabbing your nuts and incessantly boasting about how 'fly' you are and yelling curse words is entertaining?) and one at the consumers of that shit. A middle finger.
The most obvious difference between this music and today's music is that you dont hear too many words...you hear MUSIC, talented, orchestral , funky music that just sits well with the soul. People just fuckin talk to much nowadays on records, lets bring the music back!
Ive heard this a million times and this is much better than the orig......which says alot cuz tha orig is tha shit!! I didn't kno it got any better......I blazed a nice one and had to listen to a cpl songs!.....bout to convert this to an mp3 and through it in the itunes....(thank me later, cuz i kno lots of other folks are goin add it to their itunes too ;-)

Wow I can never ever hear enough new Curtis (new to my ears anyway). Grew up with the superfly and roots and other stuff but he always ends up sounding at least as good if not better live now how many cats do that?
Curtis Mayfield and his band stayed in the pocket. I could hear bars and sequences they changeD from the original and they would tease you with stabs and jabs at the chords and rifs but not give it all to you. Pure genius..
thank the Almighty that brothers and sisters from black in the day left us this kind of beautiful funky soul music to dig for years to come...'cause what they're giving us now is...what's the word i'm lookin' for? uh...i'll just say pathetic.
This is my shit. I used to imagine myself in that tub with that sexy Ron O"Neal (RIP) instead of Sheila Frazier when this song was going off in the background. What it do!!

@arikthefreak
the fact that music today isn't what it used to be is our own fault.
As soon as people stop to purchase shitty records, shitty musicians will search for other work.
Besides that a lot of bands are still around... although their getting kind of old.
Like the George Clinton, Bootsy collins etc.
