The make up of Topol is magnificent. Although still in the forties the make-up artist made him look like late sixties or early seventies. Nice music and beautiful movie indeed.

I saw the film just this week for the first time. It is very easy to understand how hard traditions are to keep and how easy they can break. It takes a strong person to keep them. I liked the film very much and will watch it many times.
