Okay -- this has got to be the same group, at least the lead singer -- who would sing in Old Towne Alexandria, VA... in a bar called the Penalty Box.. they were fantastic..!!! It is such a pleasure to see them and hear them, even better. Whatever happend to them? If this is the gorup -- do they still perform and still in the DC area???
Glad you liked the Uptown Rhythm Kings. If you search on the band's name, together with, tymjar _there's about another hour's worth of U.R.K. clips from this same late 80s T.V. broadcast.
you weren't born at the wrong time. you're young enough to really learn an instrument. the fact that you feel it leads me to believe you can be a good musician. let the instrument and the music lead you and you will find the scene that really moves you. learn a trade so you can take care of yourself and your family. my only regret is that i didn't start earlier. i got serious about music at the age of thirty and i'm having a GOOD time living here in new orleans.
Yeah, I think that was the case. It was basically his backup band, recording under the name "The Spiders". I'm not sure it was all the players in his band. This was real early, back when he was doing "jump"
does anybody knows the name of the second song, and, who recorded it originally
thank's for the great post!

I had the privilege of knowing these guys for several years in the 80's as they played Blues Harbor in Atlanta. Eric was awesome entertainer.

Say wasn't this originally recorded by a band led by Little Richards' saxophonist?
