I think it best sums up the argument on who is better then who then by saying no nation is better then any other in every respect. Some are far better off then others but most developed countries it is close enough where it comes down to cultural preference on which is 'better'.

Our two cultures are a lot more a like then either side cares to admit I would say. We both take pride in our inventions and enjoy improving not only our own but others inventions as well. I say there are plenty of things both sides have an advantage in with regards to whatever may be. Just keep in mind, the only reason the United States thinks of Canada as a friendly neighbour and not a friendly rival is the fact that we have 30 Million people living in our country. Not 300 Million.
Our nation had the option to gain independence as a result of your successful revolution which would have been a war had the British had the stomach for another war with their North American colony. Both of our nations founding fathers were very much alike in that they wanted a peaceful road to becoming a nation first and second, war. We were lucky that you lead the way.
I know a number of things that Reck said were not entirely true. For example, Avatar which he so highly praised was actually created for the most part by James Cameron (who is Canadian). Other things such as manned flight and television and the PC were either created or built upon ideas already proven in Europe. Finally as for Canadians being push overs?
