Iron Maiden ruled metal back then. I was lucky enough to go see them at Long Beach on that tour (I was there the first night, but they weren't recording that night), and I remember spending the night outside a record store to wait in line and buy tickets. I was just a 13 year old kid, but Maiden was everything to me... my friends and I would spray paint Eddie's face all over the place LOL. Up the Irons!

Best bass player ever, most metal bands had very simple bass lines but Steve always was doing ridiculous 16th note runs or triplet gallops, very intricate and incredible. IRON MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hear people talking about slipknot, metallica, slayer, etc. i've seen metallica live 5 times. slayer has catchy speed riffs, slipknot is mediocre loudness.however, iron maiden is better in every aspect. they are more melodic. u want speed they have that. they are tighter than those bands. deeper lyrics. bruce has best voice and masters in history. steve is best bassist so they have best rhythm. stage props and set design are amazing. make an arguement about bands who match aspects i said.

@raysalsa1 slipknot does not do it for me. Slayer has some fantastic stuff on reign in blood and seasons in the abyss albums, title track on the second is one of my favorites of theirs. Maiden however aside from murray and smiths fantastic duel attack (mirrored off downing and tipton) have a huge advantage from both the ability and song writing prowess of harris. From the rime of the ancient mariner to the seventh son of a seventh son album the guy is greatness
