Got to love Orlouge. You know he could waste your party easy with charm, stone and other spells but he doesn't even bother. He just takes most of the battle easy and lets his slave babes do all the fighting.

This game maintains to be one of the greatest RPGs of all time, I now have a ps3 and I still load up and play this game at least twice a week. Says alot when a 10-15 year old game gets more playtime than its newer, more enhanced counterparts. But just like FF7 I dont think anyone who has played this game will ever stop. LONG LIVE SAGA.....unless its Frontier2, Unlimited, or Romancing Saga. They all Suck, And agreeing with Valis,Asellus is the best overall story. But no one tops Alkaiser!

Orlounge is so bad-ass he doesn't even bother fighting much at all, just chills out while all his babes fight. If he actually put some effort into it with his petrification and charm spells alone he could be a force to be reckoned with. Unless you are playing with godless mecs. You are going to silicon hell you know that right?

@MA3POLO She doesn't charm Gina, if you played the game you'd know that Gina always had a crush on Asellus. It was a matter of which woman would be with her: White Rose or Gina. In this case, Gina won.

Are the spirits coming out of the paintings the ACTUAL spirits of White Rose, Lion, and Rei? Or were the 3 princess's just high-jacked and FORCED to use there powers against Asellus?

@MA3POLO Good question, seeing as how White Rose and Rei can be recruited, I think the paintings just represent them, and somehow he summons phantom versions of them.

I once saw my cousin beat this game(back when it 1st came out), and from then on I had a slight obsession with this game. It's one of the greatest RPG's of all-time in my opinion.

Actually, those paintings don't look like any of them (imo). I believe they could just represent the MANY princesses Orlouge has. Probably the first three princesses he collected. Lion, Rei, and White Rose aren't his first three. Just a thought.

@fhnyuiko Upon their first meeting, Asellus had already become half mystic, infused with Lord Orlouge's charm, which is irresistible to any woman. She's able to resist Orlouge because of that, and other women (cough.. Gina.. cough) can't help but to become infatuated. Gina even mentions that as their first meeting, with the whole "covered in blood, but oddly beautiful" thing. MA3POLO is right. Asellus did indeed, but not intentionally, charm Gina.

Even with maxed stats, a character in SaGa can go down quickly. The whole idea of the game is to kick ass before your own is kicked, and since healing options are so limited, you're going to lose in an endurance fight so you need to go all out.

haha Assellus broke out the Life Sprinkler on his butt in the first few seconds of that 3 person combo, god i miss this game, absolutely epic. There are 3 characters that were just must have power houses. Assellus, Gen and Liza were by far the most powerful.

When you do it in the second division, with blue + Over drive and tower, you can beat him in 3 turns :P hehe. Awesome game.

it's possible to do the overdrive/stasis rune trick in assellus' quest too, since you can get timelord. but it's tedious.(getting arcane magic, timelord then going for rune magic) and timelord can't deal as much damage as blue/rouge , so it's much a slower fight. if you only depend on the trick.

Live-a-Live has been translated by fans, and the translation has been offered for free for years now. only thing is you'd have to get it on an emulator to play it. I've beaten it and I must say, that game rocks just as much as SF, though some of the characters are just insanely hard.

Nice observation. I thought I was the only other person to pay such close attention to the fact that all the themes surrounding Fascinaturu and Asellus specifically have a Baroque character to them. I'm wondering why the composer/developers chose this. I guess it just goes with the scenery and archaic feel of the story well? It's too bad the other characters did have such a unique feel to their stories like Asellus.
