I remember this back in the early 70s as a young kid watching my parents party down like nothing to it riding in the ole 1971 ford XL...lol!!! this brings back memories to me in my younger days. This was one of my Mom's most favorite songs. Thanks for the memories Bobby. You're awesome!!!!
this guy's catalogue is off the fuckin charts....his body of work is just staggering. More stuff than Luther....more stuff than a guy like Freddie Jackson....they're really not even in his catagory. Matter of fact, Bobby belongs in the same 'greatness' discussion with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Barry White and Sam Cooke. Thats where he belongs....
OK, sisters and brothers - the female singer is Altrinna Grayson - the same woman who recorded "No Matter How High I Get" with Bobby and Crusaders' sax player Wilton Felder back in '85
I saw him in Birmingham, UK with Altrina Grayson in the 1990s at the Hummingbird. He wasn't as lively as here but Altrina was excellent. I often wonder what happened to her.
He looks quite sexy here the way he is commanding the performance. Never previously appeared an attractive man to me before this ! Always loved his music. Check out his auto biography . Honest , melancholy sometimes. Yeah - who is that background singer??. patti Labelle ish . Don't recognise her though.
ancestors always being reborn, if kc from jodeci hadnt got caught up in being abusive and cracked out, his voice was the new era of the great bobby womack, this is wonderful timeless and straight truth no chaser
This concert is captured on "The Collection" Live!. Hard to find but a MUST HAVE! The whole album is Bobby, the Performer, at his best, with Altrinna Grayson blasting the roof off! Get it (Hint: search Usnet)!
I love this song been searching for it for awhile, my father is gone to Glory but I can remember him so well walking through the house listening to this song, I'm glad it was posted. Thanks for Beautiful Memories!
This was the song back in the day!!!! I love this live version. What a deep song. It just fit the era in which it was released and is still so relevant even today. Thanks for posting!!!!
um, I only sing to my brother that is, at family gatherings lol. Not to anyone else. Just in case ya think we have a band or something. Nope. Just sing for enjoyment.
I heard this song by mistake one day, and I have loved it ever since. I saw this CD of his performance in a store and bought it and I play it when I want to listen to great soulful music. This song is so soulful beautiful deep heartwrenchingly wonderful, I just know its going to be a hit again one day. its one of my alltime fav songs. My brother and I are going to sing this song and share it with others. My bro is a musician and I am just a fan of great music. Thank you Mr Womack
If you are basing that comment on YOUR story that Bobby won't pay the writer for his singing the song, your comment has no merit. You are just complaining that Bobby won't give him a handout.
Womack does not owe him for use of a song ... the Publishing Company or Record Company is responsible for paying royalties to a writer ... AND the singer or group that sings it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This song is written by the late great Jim Ford who Womack swindled out of loads of royalties and money, claiming he actually wrote some of Fords songs
Womack is an idiot and Ford said that "Bobby lied and told everyone that the song was about his brother but thats not true. Bobby is an asshole - a fact he proved when i desperately needed money in the 80's. Bobby recorded many of my songs and put himself as the co writer, Bobby Womack sucks both as a person and as an artist."
Nope, you got it all wrong my good man, do some research and you will realize that 'bobby' Womack could not write songs, its a fact you all have to accept, like or or not
You are hard of hearing ... or, in this case, reading ;)
No one claims Bobby wrote that song; you don't understand the music industry. People sing songs by various writers all the time! It is a CREDIT to a writer that popular singers sing their songs.
By singing this guy's song, that does NOT say Bobby stole from him at all. It is up to the publisher and record company to pay a writer royalties. That has NOTHING to do with Bobby singing the song.
Does anyone know what happened to Alltrina Grayson? This is the lady singing this song with Bobby. She also sung the song No Matter How High I Get with him.She has a lovely voice. I saw him in concert this past summer in Humble,Texas and she didn't perform with him, but he still put on an awesome show.Sounds great live.
i'm so glad this video was put up and i finally met harry's lady and she was very beautiful with a beautiful sound. but the question is what happen to harry though? this was my coming out song in 1980 when i lost my twin brothers to drug overdose and everytime i hear this song it reminds me of my 2 brothers who had it made and everyting went down the drain so thanks bobby womack my nigga

No one ever took credit from Ford for writing this song. Singers sing songs written by composers and writers all the time.
Sounds like you wanted some of what Bobby Womack had and now you're spewing sour grapes.
People, don't believe everything people say ... or write. Some people are such haters.
