@rikstar2009 Well, I used to roam the 'Golden Common' near Fort George when I was a kid, but I never saw it drunk. I saw a bottle of milk drunk once though...
i walked in here again today it was brillient in the snow i saw some monkjacks a black squirel and about 25 magpies all in one tree it was pretty crazy. ive seen bagers kestrels mice rats moles something that looked like a pole cat and of corse the sork
Yes, the black squirrels are gradually populating this area. Where we lived in Hitchin, there were lots of Black squirrels, which originated in Letchworth. Now they are spreading. pole cats I've never seen here.
You are absolutely right Michelle. There was probably beautiful gardens surrounding the monastry at one time, and of course the woods would be kept tidy, without litter louts leaving all their dangerous mess. I shall make sure Stevenage Borough Council respect it and do not build on it! Love and Peace to yourself and all 'across the pond' Pete
Pete, I love this! More people should walk in the woods and in nature with open eyes to see both the beauty and what we humans leave there. Too bad about Henry VIII-if he hadn't wiped out the monastery, we can be sure, as it always is with monks, the woods would be in MUCH better condition as they respect nature and wildlife. Excellent, Pete- Love, Michelle in NY
Thanks. I think that it's important that us adults should set an example to our children and grandchildren about the important things in life. This is the way it shopuld be - age and youth working together. It may solve some of our problems!
Really great vid and brilliant that you have got your grandchild involved too, its such a shame that other people have to litter such a beautiful place!
When I was a teenager in the 70's living in Stevenage, there was a while when we tried ghost hunting in Monks Wood as it was reputedly haunted. Scary place at night!
Lovely vid but sound not great, nice to hear the birds.
Yes, it's still scary, and the ghost stories are still told! I know the sound isn't great. I must get a better camera with a good sound system! I'm afraid I had to add the bird sounds - there! My secret is out!
That's right Mulberry bush, - it is currently going through a lot of refurbishment. I just managed to catch it as it was when I filmed this.
