@Oxyster7 thats never occured. but some one in aukland did get decapitated by a homebuilt machine. thats why there are rules and guards. on my racing machine i have a prop buster that just blows the prop up if it moves too far in the cockpit direction.

There are a few things wrong with your question. First, you make an assumption that there is no air coming out of the bottom of those vehicles. Secondly, it sounds like you don't really understand how a hovercraft actually works.

most of thoes were SCATS, they run rotax 503 engines typicaly.

a lot of other brands of hovercraft like UH or sectec use your average briggs or tecumseh

It only takes about 30min to get to grips with a basic craft and you only need a licence to race, no licence needed if you just want to play on private land/water!

not very hard i passed my test after 20 mins in my schools racing craft but did spend some time in a cruiser before.

Formula 1 craft have a 500cc 2 stroke lift engine and most common is 800cc 3 pot 2 stroke kicking out about 170BHP for thrust, with no brakes, FUN!
